8800/9800/9900 Generator Control Panel

Processor Board Replacement Kit Instructions

Overview
The C-Arm Control Panel Processor (CPP) and Control Panel Processor I/O (CPIO) boards (green color)
have been replaced with a single combined board called the Generator Control Panel Processor
(GCPP) (blue color), PN 5482139-01.
This procedure provides instructions for how to remove the two boards and replace them with the
single Generator Control Panel Processor board.

This document uses three kinds of hazard alerts.


The following table describes each type of hazard:

Alert Circumstances for Use


Indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which if not avoided will result in
DANGER
death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which if not avoided could result in
WARNING
death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which if not avoided may result in
CAUTION
moderate to minor injury, equipment damage or loss of data.

Service Instructions

CAUTION: This instruction is for use by qualified personnel. Adequate system knowledge is required to
accurately interpret some of the terms and instructions contained herein.

Note: Read and understand the entire instruction before beginning.

CAUTION: Follow all LockOut/TagOut (LOTO) procedures.


CAUTION: The following procedures require you to handle assemblies susceptible to damage from
electrostatic discharge (ESD). To prevent ESD damage, make sure that you are grounded
with a properly functioning wrist strap before handling any ESD sensitive electronic
components.

CPP/CPIO Board Removal instructions:
1. Unplug the Workstation from the wall source.
2. Turn off the Workstation power switch.
3. Remove the interconnect cable from the C-Arm.
4. Turn off the C-Arm breaker switch CB1.
5. Remove the cross-arm brake handle from the end of the Generator Control Panel
(Figure 2).

6. Remove the Generator Control Panel cover by removing the two screws under the front of
the cover (Figure 3) and lifting the cover off of the cross-arm brake shaft.

7. Slide/insert the Generator Control Panel cover into the holding grooves at the side of the
control panel (Figure 4).
8. Disconnect the three X-ray button and up/down lift connectors that are on the Generator
Control Panel cover.

9. Set the Generator Control Panel cover off to the side of the work area.

10. For 9900 systems only, remove the EMI cover from the CPP board and discard (Figure 5).

Note: 8800/9800 systems do not have the EMI cover.

Note: The EMI cover is held firmly in place by only the EMI gasket. There are no screws.

11. Disconnect the five cables (two ribbons and three connectors) from the CPP/CPIO board
(Figure 6).

12. Remove and discard the four T-10 Torx screws that secure the EMI Box and CPP board to the
C-Arm (Figure 7).

13. Remove and keep for reinstall the two T-10 Torx screws securing the CPIO board and
disconnect the two green/yellow ground wires (Figure 8).

14. Remove and discard the CPP and CPIO assembly (Figure 9).

Generator Control Panel Processor Board Installation Instructions:
1. Obtain from the kit and install the four standoffs (PN 22-407702-00) with Loctite™ 222
where the EMI Box was previously mounted (Figure 10).

2. Obtain from the kit the GCPP board (Figure 11).

3. Position the new GCPP board on the six standoffs. (Figure 12)

4. Install the four screws (12-225104-05) and two screws previously removed with the
green/yellow ground wires under the two screws at board locations MH3 and MH6
(Figure 13).

Note: Be careful to not pinch any cabling under the board.

Note: The left control panel ribbon cable needs to be rerouted to match the new location of the
connector on the new GCPP board.

5. Remove the four left control panel mounting screws (Figures 14 and 15).

6. Tilt the control panel out to access the ribbon cable (Figure 16) and adjust the left ribbon
cable to align with the ribbon connector on the GCPP board (Figures 17 and 18).

7. Connect the ribbon as shown in Figures 18 and 19.

8. Remount the left control panel with the four mounting screws previously removed.

9. Connect the four remaining cables (one ribbon and three connectors) (Figure 20).

10. Slide/insert the Generator Control Panel cover into the holding grooves at the side of the
control panel.

11. Reconnect the three X-ray button and up/down lift connectors from the Generator Control
Panel cover.

Calibration
 No calibration is required.

Test
1. Turn on CB1.

2. Power on system.

3. Perform the following per the 8800/9800/9900 Service Manual:

a. Verify voltage at TP2 (red) is +5.00 V, +/- 0.25v. Reference is TP3 (black) (Figure 21).

b. Test functionality of the:


 Vertical column up/down buttons
 X-ray On button
 Fast Stop buttons
 Control Panel buttons (both sides)
 Control Panel display (both sides)

c. Re-install the Generator Control Panel cover and secure with the two front screws.

d. Re-install the cross-arm brake handle.

Finish
1. Dispose of the removed Control Panel boards per local procedures.
2. Dispose of these instructions.
3. Leave the Generator Control Panel Replacement Instruction (5439585-1EN-01) with the
customer.
