The words hip-hop and rap started becoming synonymous once the music industry and

media started making them out to be. Soon after, the genre started making a huge impact on the

food and clothes industries, education, language, etc. The genre gives the hip-hop generation a

conditions people around the world how to think since it leaves a heavy impression on the

China did not start to adapt and develop their own form of hip-hop until the early 2000s

due to its policy of “closed-doorism”. Since then, China has opened its door to the world and

became exposed to various forms of hip-hop. With the help of the internet technology, they were

able to quickly adopt to the idea of the genre. Many people in China felt that because of hip-hop,

they were able to freely express themselves like they never had before due to political issues.

The article written by Xuexin Liu, will be useful in my research paper as it goes in depth

with how hip-hop influenced the way young people see and do things. It will also help answer

the question on how hip-hop can influence everyday life in different parts of the world. It seems

that this article would be a tremendous help as it provides many useful information that I can use

as examples in my essay.
