LESSON PLAN
Aims:
to give students practice in speaking and listening/comprehension skills;
To introduce the characters. To practise greetings and introductions.
to make pupils feel more positive about using English in short
conversations;
Language functions:
in this lesson the pupils will learn to understand: Who’s this?• This is
(Willow).• Open/Close your books.• Who is it?• What’s your name?
LESSON STAGES
ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP
AIM: to get students ready for the English class by having an informal
conversation (greetings, How are you?, weather, etc.)
TIMING: 2 minutes
TYPE OF INTERACTION: T Ò S, S Ò T
PROCEDURE: T greets the Ss and asks them how they are and about the
weather. Pupils respond to informal questions.
AIMS:
- to give Ss practice in using the new language;
TIMING: 8 minutes
TYPE OF INTERACTION: T Ò S, SÒ S
PROCEDURE: Say the instructions twice as you mime them. Refer the pupils to the
picture and explain the activity. Ask the pupils to go to their Activity Books and cut
out the stick puppets. Provide any necessary help. With the help of a pupil
demonstrate the following short dialogue: e.g. Teacher: (in the role of Erlina) Hello,
I’m Erlina. Pupil 1: (in the role of Alvin) Hello, I’m Alvin. The pupils choose a
character and go around the class meeting and greeting the rest of the characters.
STAGE 2: FEEDBACK
AIMS:
- to consolidate what was learned during the class and to recycle some
vocabulary.
- to offer more practice.
TIMING: 12 minutes
TYPE OF INTERACTION: T Ò S, S Ò T
PROCEDURE:
Say the instructions twice as you mime them. Point to the characters, one at a
time, and say: Hello, Magic Forest! Hello, Magic Friends! Hello, (Willow)! The
pupils repeat after you. Explain what magic forest and magic friendsmean. Point to
and say: HELLO. Play the recording. The pupils listen and point to the characters as
their names are mentioned. Play the recording again. The pupils listen and sing along.
Point to the characters on the Hello! poster, one by one. Say and wave:
Goodbye, (Willow). The pupils repeat after you. Address a pupil and ask: What’s your
name? The pupil responds. Then the rest of the class says goodbye to him/her. Repeat
the procedure with the rest of the class. Demonstrate this yourself first. e.g. Teacher:
What’s your name? Pupil 1: Sue. Class: Goodbye, Sue!
ACTIVITY 6: HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

- to assign Ss’ HW
- TIMING: 5 minutes

PROCEDURE: The pupils have to draw a poster with the family from The Magic
Forest.
