AIM-USING WINDOW EXPLORER AND OTHER WINDOW
ELEMENTS
WINDOW – In Microsoft latest generation of operating system window explorer in a file
manage that allow you to browse the contents of your hard drive. With window explorer you
can browse your picture, music, documents and videos from one location you have three
ways you can open window explorer in window.

1. Right – Click the “Start” menu and click open window explorer opens for you to
browse your hard drive contents.
2. Press the window and “E” on the keyboard and window explorer opens for you to
browse your hard drive contents.
3. Click the “start” menu and type “Explorer” in the instant search box. Window
explorer appears in the list of you to click.

EXPLORING THE WINDOW DESKTOP


Window presents tools, commends, and structure through a graphical user interface
(GUI). User interface include the following types of components: -
 DESKTOP: -The basic display area against which you can manipulate icons
representing programs folder and files.
 ICON: -A visual representing of a program, folder file or other object or function.

 POINTING DEVICE: -A device such as a mouse that controls a pointer such with
which you can select displayed on its screen.
 WINDOW: -A frame usually resizable with in which the computer runs a program a
display a folder file.
 MENU: -A list from which you can give an instruction by clicking a command.
 DIALOG BOX: -A fixed size window in which you can refine instruction.
EXPLORING THE START MENU IN WINDOW (left pane)
The start menu organised into two panes: -
1. Left pane
2. Right pane
Search box the window located at bottom of the start menu, enables the user to find program,
music files document, picture and more installing.

Shift down, switch user, log off and lock screen, restart and sleep
 SHUTDOWN: -Selecting the shutdown button at the bottom of the start menu will
close all window and shutdown the computers.
 SWITCH USER: -Switch user without closing programs.
 LOGG OFF: -Close program and log off.
 LOCK SCREEN: -Locks the computer screen. A password is required to unlock.
 REASTART: -Close to all open programs, shutdown window and then start window
again.

 SLEEP: -Save your session and puts the computers in a law power start so that can
quickly resume working.

EXPLORING THE START MENU IN WINDOW (Right pane)

 PERSONAL FOLDER: -Open the folder associated with whoever is correctly logged
into windows
 DOCUMENTS: -Open the documents in library which contains letters. Notes and
documents.
 PICTURE: -Opens the picture where you can view and organise digital image graphic
files.
 MUSIC: -Open the music library where you can access and play music other and audio
files.
 COMPUTERS: -View drivers, camera, printer, scanner, and other hardware connected
to your computer.
 CONTROLL PANELL: -Clay setting customizes the functionality of your computer
install or uninstall program and manage user accounts.
 DEVICE AND PRINTER: -View and manage device, printer and print jobs
 DEFAULT PROGRAMS: -View and select the default program for different file
types.
 HELP AND SUPPORT: -Opens window help and support in order to browser and
search window help topics.

 DOS: -Any operating system that supports hard drives stand for DOS.

 To open command line type CMD in the search or run line. And then press enter.
 Now window command line will be shown.
 C:\user\admin

 Window starts you at user directory.


 Now we are currently in admin directory.
 It is a subdirectory of the user directory.
 C:\this prompt tells us we are in c driver.
 C:\user admin\dir.
