Maintaining a smooth, clean hull by controlling the
growth of organisms and minimising drag is important
in sustaining the operational efficiency of a vessel.
Antifouling coatings inhibit fouling growth by greenhouse gas emissions through lower fuel
releasing an active ingredient which prevents consumption. Antifoulings can also minimise
organisms from settling. These coatings play the potential for translocation of invasive
a key role in reducing the overall operational marine species, an area of growing concern

Developing
and delivering
We understand the diverse conditions under
which antifouling products need to perform.
Our network of dedicated research and
development laboratories in key locations
worldwide work in conjunction with our
customers and industry experts, including
universities, raw material suppliers, class
societies and regulatory bodies to assess
these challenges and deliver new, innovative
products and technologies to ensure our
customers stay out in front.

The range
Our antifouling range features a number of technology types
– self polishing copolymers (SPCs), controlled depletion
polymers (CDPs) and self polishing systems – a combination
of SPC / CDP technology – each designed to meet our
customers’ performance expectations.

Performance can be predicted and assessed

using our Dataplan satisfaction ratings.
Derived from analysing the indocking condition
of a vessel, its coating performance – the type,
severity and extent of fouling – in conjunction
with the trading pattern, operational profile and
drydocking interval, an antifouling performance
rating can be calculated.

Through our product stewardship policy, the

range has also evolved to increase the volume
solids of our products, providing through life
cost savings and the added benefits of faster
application and reduced coats per scheme,
low levels of overspray, less time in drydock
and reduced VOC emissions.

Proven success
All ships are not the same. We recognise that ships
operate under different conditions, trading routes,
speeds and water temperatures, and that each can
have a dramatic effect on the fouling challenge presented.

With over 28,000 vessels coated with our Intersmooth®,

Interswift® and Interspeed® brands, our antifouling range
provides options for all vessels and operational requirements,
providing effective fouling control for up to 60* months.
