    Prayer for the Pope

    The following prayer is taken from the Roman Missal. A partial indulgence is attached to the versicle and
    response.

    V. Let us pray for N, our Pope.

    R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him
    not up to the will of his enemies. [Ps 40:3]

    Our Father, Hail Mary.

    O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant N, whom Thou
    hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and
    example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to
    him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Oratio pro summo Pontifice

    V. Oremus pro Pontifice nostro N.

    R. Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam
    inimicorum eius. [Ps 40:3]

    Pater Noster, Ave Maria.

    Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector, famulum tuum N., quem pastorem Ecclesiae tuae praeesse
    voluisti, propitius respice: da ei, quaesumus, verbo et exemplo, quibus praeest, proficere: ut ad vitam,
    una cum grege sibi credito, perveniat sempiternam. Per Christum, Dominum nostrum. Amen.

    Almighty and Everlasting God

    ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, have mercy upon Thy servant N., our Supreme Pontiff, and direct him
    according to Thy loving kindness in the way of eternal salvation; that, of Thy gift, he may ever desire that
    which is pleasing unto Thee and may accomplish it with all his might. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Omnipotens sempiterne Deus

    OMNIPOTENS sempiterne Deus, miserere famulo tuo Pontifici nostro N., et dirige eum secundum tuam
    clementiam in viam salutis aeternae: ut, te donante, tibi placita cupiat et tota virtute perficiat. Per
    Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.

    O God, The Shepherd of All Thy Faithful


    O GOD, the Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, mercifully look upon Thy servant, N., whom

    O GOD, who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the eternal High Priest for the glory of Thy
    Majesty and the salvation of mankind; grant that they whom He hath chosen to be His ministers and the
    stewards of His mysteries, may be found faithful in the fulfillment of the ministry which they have
    received. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Deus, qui ad maiestatis tuae gloriam

    DEUS, qui ad maiestatis tuae gloriam et generis humani salutem, Unigenitum tuum summum atque
    aeternum constituisti Sacerdotem: praesta, ut quos ministros et mysteriorum suorum dispensatores
    elegit, in accepto ministerio adimplendo fideles inveniantur. Per eundem Christum Dominum nostrum.
    Amen.
