ABSTRACT
ASSUMPTIONS
I. Too prepared for the study would be sufficient to assess the knowledge of
students regarding infection control in hospital.
II. Student nurses will have some knowledge on infection control in
hospital.
METHODOLOGY
Experimental research design was adopted in the study . The study was conducted
on 40 students who are studying in Aadarsh Institution of Nursing Raipur ((C.G).
Simple randam sampling which is a experimental types of sampling was used for
this study .Data was collected by using a structured questionnaire .Questionnaire
consisted of 24 items on knowledge of infection control,The data was tabulated
and analyzed in terms of objective of the study using descriptive and inferential
statistics. The conceptual frame work used for the study was based on imogene
king's goal attainment.
FINDINGS OF STUDY
The finding of the study revealed that out of 40 students , 1(2.5%) havepoor
knowledge,24(60%)have average knowledge and 15(37.5%) have good
knowledge.
Overall knowledge of infection control among students nurses Mean is 11.1 mean
score is 2.5% and SD is 2.47. CEAP classification is used to find the association
between selected demographic variables with the knowledge of infection control
The mean score of knowledge of infection control among student nurses is 19.5.SD
is 2.30, Maximum score is 12 and the percentage is 60%
Analysis for association between the selected socio demographic variables with
knowledge of infection control was using chi-square test and frequency and found
significant association between previous knowledge x2 20.63.
Conclusion
The finding of the present study reveals a significant gain in knowledge among
nursing students following the structured teaching programme on infection control.
Structured teaching programme can be used effectively to improve the knowledge
regarding infection control among the nursing students from their first year of
studies. This in turn can improve their skill in preventing hospital acquired
infection, while caring for the patients.
