How to prepare Quantitative Aptitude / Maths for SSC CGL

Exam
2/4
As the topic of maths will be tested in both the tiers so you have to prepare this very
seriously. So let's talk about the books/study material from which you will prepare this giant
syllabus of SSC CGL maths.

1. Quantum Cat by S.K. Verma: The ultimate masterpiece of maths. I can guarantee you're
gonna keep this book with you forever. It's got everything that you need. You need
concepts, formulas, short-cut methods it has everything.

YOU JUST HAVE TO SOLVE THE INTRODUCTORY EXERCISES AND LEVEL - 1

EXERCISES ONLY. THAT WILL BE ENOUGH FOR SSC MATHS.

One of the important thing about this book it doesn't want you learn the short-cut methods
blindly. All the short-cuts given in every chapter are in limited quantity and all of them are
explained logically.

2. SSC Maths Chapterwise Solved Papers since 1997-till date: It is very important to solve
previous years questions by SSC. It will help you to understand what type of questions like
to ask and what is the difficulty level of questions.

Some important things that you should know about these resources

Myth Quantum Cat, it is only for Management Exams: It is specially recommended for 4
most important topics that is Mensuration, Trigonometry, Algebra and Geometry as it has
better coverage over these topics. And it is the best book to polish your mind. And we have
never recommended you to do all the exercises of Quantum Cat. We have recommended
upto Level 1 only.

1. Quantum Cat: You will start with rank 1 chapter i.e. Mensuration then 2 - Trigonometry
and so on. Just solve introductory exercises and level 1 exercise only.

2. SSC Maths Chapterwise: Why I need to solve the previous years questions. Well, the
answer is very simple. It is important to understand what kind of questions SSC like to ask.
What is the difficulty level of questions.

So first Quantum Cat----> and then SSC Maths Chapterwise.

Points to remember during the preparation of maths

1. You can minimize the use of pen and paper in the exam hall. You should first try to solve
the problem in brain and if it is solved without the help of pen and paper then it is very good
because you will be able to other questions in that saved time.

2. Instead of solving the questions at the bottom of the page solve them by plugging the
values near the questions. In that way you don't have to look up and down on the question
paper.
3/4
3. All the methods, rules, formulas and questions which are repeated most frequently in the
should be on your finger tips. For eg. tables upto 20 & also square and cube table upto
20.

Just solve the questions, complete the books and win the game of SSC CGL. Good Luck!
