The Conditions For Water Reticulation Plans
1. All pipes shall be laid in accordance with the requirements of the contract specifications;
2. All works must be carried out in accordance with THE JKR SPESIFIKASI AM BAGI PEMBINAAN SALURAN PAIP
AIR (OKTOBER 2011);
3. The mainslaying works shall be undertaken by mainslayers licenced by State Water Authority (please refer to the
related section in this website);
4. Minimum cover to the top of the watermain shall be as specified in the above JKR SPECIFICATION, unless
otherwise directed by the Engineer;
5. The watermain shall cross over the top of sewer lines and shall be encased in concrete for at least 6 m length of
the crossing;
6. All watermains shall be laid at least 1 meter away from other utilities services and for submain at least 0.5 m. As
for existing roads, it is subject to Wayleave Requirement in regards to roads belong to JKR, DID or council. Please
do check with the relevant authorities before submission;
7. All HDPE pipes shall conform to the requirements of MS1058:2006 Part 2 with blue stripes;
8. All HDPE pipes to be jointed using a fully automatic butt fusion machine to JKR Standard Specification JKR
20200-0057-99. However, electrofusion jointing is also acceptable and if this is to be used, then the requirements
of JKR Standard Specification JKR 20200-086-00 should be complied with;
9. All Ductile Iron Pipes and fittings shall conform to BS EN545:2006. DI fittings without branches shall be CLASS
K12 and fittings with branches shall be CLASS K14;
10. All valves and associated fittings, including surface boxes, to be Ductile Iron to JKR Standard Specification JKR
20-200-0083-00 for sluice valves and JKR 20200-0043-99 for air valves. The sluice valves shall be clockwise
closing;
11. All pillar hydrants shall be sluice valve pillar hydrants complying to BS 750. The outlet brass coupling must be
pinned and welded and the flange base encased in concrete;
12. All couplings to be of approved brand unless otherwise specified by the Superintending Officer;
13. All flange pipes shall be CLASS K12 PN16 and conform to BS EN545. The dimension of the bolt holes shall conform
to BS EN 1092 PN16 dimension;
14. All bolts and nuts for use with flanges for pipes and fittings are to be stainless steel of GRADE 316 and that all slip
on flanges for use with HDPE stub ends are to be of Ductile Iron material;
15. All thrust blocks are to be constructed with Grade 20 concrete unless otherwise directed by the Engineer;
16. Piling for concrete thrust blocks shall be 100mm diameter bakau pile or belian post or approved types of piles;
17. Concrete marker posts as detailed in the drawings shall be provided as required in the JKR SPEFIKASI AM BAGI
PEMBINAAN SALURAN PAIP AIR (OKTOBER 2011);
18. Ductile Iron pipes shall be used for all road crossings, the actual length to be measured on site;
19. All vertical pipe bends shall be bolted down, flanged and properly anchored and fixed with mild steel straps;
20. All pipe crossings at culverts shall be laid by the side and over the top of the culvert and provided with an air valve
at the downstream end of the crossing or at the highest point of the crossing. There must be no obstruction to the
flow of water in the drain;
21. Pipe trenches crossing road pavements shall be properly reinstated to the original condition of the road surface;
22. All tappings on HDPE pipe must use socket fusion tapping tee c/w under-part;
23. The numbers and position of hydrants shall be approved by JABATAN BOMBA DAN PENYELAMAT;
24. Upon completion of the mainslaying works, testing shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the
specifications and witnessed by Officers from JABATAN BEKALAN AIR LUAR BANDAR (JBALB); and, but not
limited to,
25. Interconnection to existing main must be approved and witness by JBALB officers, notice must be given at least 1
week before works.
