Classroom Arrangement

In my classroom, I would prefer to have tables for students to work at rather than desks. I

like the idea of having flexible seating so having a high table that students can stand and work at,

a low table that students can sit and work at, and other tables for students to sit on various types

of seating at. I would allow students to pick where they feel most comfortable working and allow

them to sit at the tables or on the reading carpet for independent work. I would keep my

classroom set up this way throughout the year and not change it much if at all. I would use

centers in my class a lot for students who like to see things hands on. I would have tables at the

centers for featured items to sit out on that would relate to what we are learning at the time. I

would rotate different manipulatives and visuals on the table throughout the year to reflect and

reinforce what I am teaching at that time. I like having a lot of rugs in the classroom for students

to have a warm place to sit on the floor. Overall, I feel that my classroom would be very open

and colorful and inviting for students to feel at home while in the classroom.
