2. Examples of Conditional Sentences

There are three types of conditional sentences

A. Type 1 = condition possible to fulfill

Form

 If + Subject + verb ( simple present tense ) + Subject + will/ shall + verb (simple
future tense)
 If + Subject + be + adjective + Subject + will/ shall + be + adjective.

Example:

If I have money, I will buy house for my parents.


( Jika saya memiliki uang, saya akan membelikan rumah untuk orangtua saya)

B. Type 2 = condition in theory possible to fulfill

Form

 If + Subject + verb (simple past tense) + Subject + would/ could/ might + verb (past
future tense)

Example:

If I were you, I would slap Adi.


(Jika saya adalah kamu, saya akan menampar Adi.)

C. Type 3 = condition not possible to fulfill (too late)

Form

 If + Subject + had + verb (past perfect tense) + Subject + would + have + verb (past
future perfect tense)

Example:

I would have visited you if I had finished my work earlier.


(Saya akan mengunjungimu jika saya menyelesaikan pekerjaan saya lebih awal.)
