This document provides a random generator for creating vampire cities, including population, sect, ruler, and clan distribution.

The population size of the city determines the overall vampire population, with larger cities having more vampires. The sect of the city is also determined.

The ruler's clan is determined by the sect of the city - Camarilla cities use one table, Sabbat another, and Independent may use any. The ruler's generation is not determined.

1. POPULATION AND SECT 01-60 Ventrue
The Vampire Revised core rulebook states that
vampires generally prefer to have a Cainite population 61-70 Toreador
of 1 vampire per 100,000 mortals. However, while that 71-80 Tremere
might be “realistic” (whatever that means when 81-90 Brujah
talking about a society of blood-drinking corpses), it 91-94 Nosferatu
would also make for some severely under-populated 95-98 Malkavian
cities, which isn’t quite as fun. Therefore, the table
99 Gangrel
below skews things a bit, most notably at the lower
end of the scale. 100 Unusual Prince. Roll a d10:
1-3 Lasombra antitribu
Population 4-5 Daughter of Cacophony
Size Population Vampires 6-7 Samedi

Large Town 10,000 – 50,000 10-20 10 Caitiff
Small City 50,000 – 100,000 20-50
Average City 100,000 – 500,000 50-75 Sabbat Archbishop
Large City 500,000 – 1,000,000 75-125 d% Clan
Huge City 1,000,000 – 5,000,000 125-200 01-40 Lasombra
Metropolis 5,000,000 – 10,000,000 200-300 41-65 Tzimisce
Megacity 10,000,000 or more 300 or more 66-75 Brujah antitribu
76-80 Toreador antitribu
This part is also where you determine the sect of the 81-87 Nosferatu antitribu
city. You can (and probably should) choose that for 88-93 Gangrel antitribu
yourself, but if you like you can instead use the 94-97 Malkavian antitribu
following table. 98-99 Assamite Antitribu

d% Clan Here’s where things get a bit complicated: you want to
01-30 Brujah determine the distribution of each clan in the city. With
31-37 Ventrue 13 Clans, 10 noteworthy modern bloodlines, and the
38-44 Toreador Caitiff, this is a potentially daunting task. But you can
45-51 Malkavian do it!
First, find out the size category of the city, via
52-57 Nosferatu
Section 1. Easy enough. Once you’ve done that, decide
58-63 Lasombra or randomly determine the Clan Distribution of your
64-69 Ravnos city, applying the following modifiers depending
70-75 Gangrel upon the city’s size category:
76-80 Tremere
81-85 Assamite City Population Modifiers
86-90 Follower of Set City Size City Size Modifier
91-95 Tzimisce Small Town -4
96-98 Caitiff Average Town -3
99-100 Unusual Baron. Roll a d10: Large Town -2

2 Gargoyle Average City +0
3 Kiasyd Large City +1
4 Nagaraja Huge City +2
5 Samedi Metropolis +3
6-10 No Baron; the domain is ruled over by a Megacity +4

In addition to the above, Independent Regents apply a
Independent Regent further -2 modifier. This does stack with the city size
modifier. Independent Clans jealously guard their

independence and control of their cities, and this is
01-16 Assamite achieved most easily by limiting other Cainite’s entry.

99-100 Throwback. Roll a d10: Okay, so what does that mean for each clan? The
1-2 Ahrimane category determines how common the various Clans
are in each city, via percentage. Round away any
3-4 Cappadocian
fractions to the nearest whole number. If you find
5-6 Child of Osiris while doing this that you have a deficit or an excess of
7-8 Lhiannan vampires, fill in the remainder with Caitiff.
9 Noiad When randomly determining the Clan distribution,
10 Salubri use the tables below to determine the Clan. Re-roll any
repeat results except Caitiff, which you will instead
total together. The blood runs thin these nights.
Camarilla Clan Generation Astute readers will note that the totals the tables

The ruler must likely contend with a Primogen
council. As well, a city as mixed as this inevitably
contains vampires from other Sects in significant
numbers. In some cases the dominant Sect may exist in
uneasy peace with the other Sect, but in most cases
some low-level conflict is constant.

Fully Integrated. The ruler’s clan is ahead of the

others by only the slimmest of pluralities. The ruler
must rely on an alliance of clans to control the city. A
city this mixed – which only happens in large and
thereby important cities – must necessarily include
members of other sects as well, and a city this large
sees a constant state of cold war for control of such a
prize.
