    Significance of the Study

    Department of Science and Technology(DOST).


    This study will benefit to the Department of Science and
    Technology to enhance or develop new technologies that can
    help improve our way living. It also provides additional
    knowledge to the existing information about electricity.

    Department of Energy(DOE).
    This study will benefit to the Department of Energy for it
    provides additional information about the efficiency of
    energy, way to conserve energy and the conservation of natural
    resources and making use of the renewable energy.

    Teachers,
    This study will be useful to the teachers in teaching their
    students about the efficiency of energy and the different ways
    to use and conserve it. And also be useful for they can use
    this as a reference and guide in teaching their students.

    Students,
    This study will be beneficial to the students for it can help
    them in their studies and provides additional knowledge and

    Theory Background

    Wind Turbine is a device that converts the wind’s kinetic


    energy into electrical energy. Wind turbines are manufactured
    in a wide range of vertical and horizontal axis.
    Operate on a simple principle. The energy in the wind turns
    two or three propeller, like blades around a rotor.

    - Is a mechanical device which converts wind energy to
    electricity. Electricity produced from a wind turbine is
    basically alternating current. When wind with sufficient
    speed hits the blade of the turbine, it creates a force
    on the blade causing the momentum from the moving wind to
    be transferred into rotating shaft. The rotating shaft
    will be part of the generator which is converted into
    electrical energy. Energy is generated when the wind
    speed reaches about 4 to 5 m/sec, and a speed of 11 to 12
    m/sec allows the turbines to generate at their rated
    capacity. They shut down when the wind exceeds 24 to 25
    m/sec.

    The coefficient of power of a wind turbine is a measurement of


    how efficiently the wind turbine converts the power in the
    wind into electricity.
    Wind power is an alternative clean energy source and can be
    relied on for the long-term future instead of the conventional
    fossil fuel energy.

    A wind turbine is a way of producing cost effective pollution


    free energy. A single household can be turn on the energy
    generated from a wind turbine. Because wind is a source of
    energy which is non-polluting and renewable, wind turbines
    create power without using fossil fuels, without producing
    greenhouse gases or radioactive or toxic waste. Wind power
    reduces global warming.
    Power in the wind although a wind energy system’s final
    objective is to generate energy it is more convenient to
    describe its size in terms of power. The relationship between
    power and energy is a simple size one- energy is defined in

    How does a wind turbine generate electricity?


    Wind power converts the kinetic energy in wind to generate
    electricity or mechanical power. This is done by using a large
    wind turbine usually, consisting of propellers, the turbine
    can be connected to a generator to generate electricity.

    Creating Electricity from Wind


    To create electricity from wind then shaft of the turbine
    must be connected to a generator. Then generator uses the
    turning motion of the shaft to rotate a rotor which has
    oppositely charge magnets and is surrounded by copper wire
    loops. Electromagnetic induction is created by the rotor
    spinning around the inside of the core, generating
    electricity.
