 I was responsible for designing and teaching the Air and Flight unit in Science and the Area and
Perimeter unit in Mathematics. I created numerous hands-on activities that utilized manipulatives
and technology, and challenged students to demonstrate their learning in creative and visual ways.
I introduced principles of the engineering design process through a paper airplane design
competition. Working in teams, students had to design, construct and test multiple types of paper
airplanes, all while documenting and reflecting on the process. I conducted guided reading groups
and developed shared reading lessons relating to inference and poetry.
 I volunteered with student council to supervise and oversee numerous Halloween related
activities. I also volunteered at the district cross-country running final to organize and support the
school’s athletes who were competing.

Kindergarten Teacher Candidate, Sir John A. Macdonald Public School, Kingston ON – 3 weeks 2017
 After observing the classroom routines, I was responsible for assisting the teacher and the ECE in
managing classroom behaviour and facilitating learning centers. I developed a number of math
related activities involving counting, sorting and pattern recognition. I conducted whole-group
shared reading lessons using the Oxford Learning Tree Biff, Chip and Kipper books, focusing on
building vocabulary and predicting.
 I volunteered as a scribe for the provincial EQAO testing with grade 3 students. I also volunteered
as a timekeeper with the school running club and facilitated students completing a month-long
marathon challenge.

Alternative Teaching Experience

1 Million Teachers, Multiple locations in Ghana and Côte D’Ivoire – 4 weeks 2018
 I am developing multiple professional development modules that will be added to the 1 Million
Teachers online database for use by teachers across Africa.
 I will be completing a 4 week trip in March of 2018 with the goals of conducting professional
development workshops with local teachers, touring local and international schools and observing
classroom routines, and speaking with local government and UN officials regarding the education
systems in Ghana and Côte D’Ivoire.
