STORY OF ‘SUPER DAN’
1.In childhood life, his parents wanted him to become a pianist but little Lin Dan
years old. He joined the sports troop of the People’s Liberation Army at 12
years old and won both the team and boys’ single event with Asian Junior
Championships in 2000.
2.Lin Dan started playing for China’s National Badminton Team at age of 18 and
took a shot at the Asian Badminton Championships but badly beaten in 2001
and bounce back and won gold at the Korea Open in 2002.
3.He made his debut in the World Championships in England in 2003 and won the
first two rounds respectively but lost to Xia in the third round match.
4.The year 2004 was a standout year for Super Dan. He helped his team win the
qualifying round of the Thomas Cup, and then won the Swiss Open, All
England Open and reached the semi-final of the Japan Open in the same
year. He was ranked No. 1 by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the

2006 and 2007.He also secured the BWF Best Male Player of the Year in 2008.Lin
was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou,
China. On 2011, he was voted as the 2010 best male athlete in CCTV Sports
Personality of the Year for his clean sweep in major badminton titles.
