PLAGIARISM:
The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and the University regards as a very serious matter the action of a student who
acts dishonestly or improperly, including plagiarism or cheating, in connection with his or her academic work.
Plagiarism may take many forms including:

 Direct copying of sentences, paragraphs or other extracts from someone else’s published work (including
on the Internet and in software) without acknowledging the source;
 Paraphrasing someone else’s words without acknowledging the source;
 Using facts, information, ideas, concepts or diagrams derived from a source without acknowledging them;
 Producing assignments which should be the student’s own independent work, in unauthorised collaboration
with and / or using the work of other people (e.g. a student or tutor, or working in pairs or groups and
producing similar assignments on individual assignment tasks;
 Not referencing accurately (e.g. not citing correctly the work you have actually read).

OTHER UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR:

 Stealing and later using other students’ work (e.g. taking discs, picking up other’s marked assignments).
 Recycling your own work / assignments or ‘double dipping’ (e.g. re-submitting whole or significant parts of
assignments across units, access years or across courses).
 Assisting plagiarism – which may involve a student lending work (or by positioning it on the Internet for
sales) which is intended for submission for assessment, or which has already been submitted, so that it
can be copied in part or whole and handed in by another student as that student’s own work. Students are
warned against making assignments etc., available to others, as they then could be regarded as a
contributor to plagiarism and may be penalised as if they themselves had committed an act of plagiarism.
Student’s Statement
I have read and understood the information provided on this assignment cover page, relating to plagiarism and other
unacceptable behaviour and therefore declare that the attached work is entirely my own, except where work quoted
is duly acknowledged in the text, and that this work has not been submitted for assessment in any other unit or
course.

years old. He joined the sports troop of the People’s Liberation Army at 12

years old and won both the team and boys’ single event with Asian Junior

Championships in 2000.

and bounce back and won gold at the Korea Open in 2002.

3.He made his debut in the World Championships in England in 2003 and won the

first two rounds respectively but lost to Xia in the third round match.

4.The year 2004 was a standout year for Super Dan. He helped his team win the

qualifying round of the Thomas Cup, and then won the Swiss Open, All

England Open and reached the semi-final of the Japan Open in the same

year. He was ranked No. 1 by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the

first time in February.

5.In late 2004, he lost in the quarterfinals of the Malaysian Open and ousted from

the Olympic Games but he bounced back in 2005 and retained his world No.

1 ranking. He won the German and Hong Kong Open Titles, Japan Open,

China Masters, and World Cup tournaments. In spite of his successes, he lost

to Chen Hong in the All England match.

played the Sudirman Cup and defeated Indonesia in the tournament. He also

Lin Dan won the Eddie Choong Player of the Year award for two consecutive years in

2006 and 2007.He also secured the BWF Best Male Player of the Year in 2008.Lin

China. On 2011, he was voted as the 2010 best male athlete in CCTV Sports

Personality of the Year for his clean sweep in major badminton titles.

THE INSPIRING REASON

a. Lin Dan has a high acceptance of the result of competitions. Whether you win

or lose a game, acceptance is the key to reach the best level in the next time

around. Failure is as temporary or as permanent as you make it happen. As

we know, he makes his name well-known with two-time Olympic champion

and five-time world champion.

b. Lin Dan has a highest perseverance where it was not an easy journey to go

from national player to a world champion. The champions we know today can

attest that it takes blood and sweat to get to the level where they are now.

Only hard work leads the talent to greatness.

c. In badminton match, Lin Dan never gives up on the play. When his opponent

gives a return shot, he immediately run to receive that drop. He do not care

whether he trip, slip, or get tired from running; as long as the shuttlecock has

not reached the ground, his mission is to never give up.

d. Lin Dan put his trust on his teammates where he believe all his teammates

can win the title as they work hard and he always believe that team

competition is his priority.
