In Jamaica currently, there are over 40 companies involved, with the industry being concentrated in the
Montego Bay free zone, accounting for 68 per cent of the operations; Kingston with 18 per cent; and
Portmore with 14 per cent.
Based on reports coming out of JAMPRO, it is said that Jamaica is poised to attract a wider range of
BPO Services in the near future as we move to leverage the growing range of applicable skills in the
country to take advantage of the opportunities in the Knowledge Services Sector.
JAMPRO also reported that the Sector had an estimated spend of US$323 million in 2016 and that the
ICT/BPO sector is a high-performing segment of Jamaica’s services industries and has enjoyed the
highest employment growth rate of any sector in the last decade, and presently accounts for more than
22,000 jobs across the island. Additionally, Jamaica is the leading contact centre location in the
English-Speaking Caribbean.
Further expansion in the BPO industry is slated for Jamaica with the potential to provide approximately
100,000 jobs in the sector.
With the Jamaican unemployment rate at 11.3% representing 155,000 unemployed individuals, the rapid
growth in this Sector is critical in providing much needed jobs and reducing our unemployment rate.
With the above in mind, TSKNM Limited foresees a great opportunity for investment in this Sector
through the provision of a building for BPO Services.
The design and construction of a building and requisite amenities on a site at Ferry, St. Catherine for
housing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Operations.
The office facility will include a parking area and access roadways, including storm water drainage,
potable water, sewerage, air conditioning and electrical systems.
In addition, the building amenities will be ENERGY STAR certified building rating.
