    CLIENT’S LETTER unedited
    Hello everyone, my name is Melissa Jones and I have been a client at Birthline since my second
    pregnancy in 1996.

    I grew up in a home full of domestic violence. My mother was beaten on a daily basis,
    and so therefore I raised and protected my younger brother and 2 sisters. I then got
    into my own relationship, thinking the violence was a normal thing in life, so I got in-
    volved in one myself. My first pregnancy ended when I was thrown down 2 flights of
    stairs. My second pregnancy I stayed with my grandparents, and got help from
    Birthline.

    Birthline was the only support I had to help me with pregnancy clothing and baby supplies. After
    my second pregnancy I snuck out while my, now x-husband was at work, and I got therapy and
    decided to leave my x-husband and make a better future for my children. I was put into protective
    custody for 2 years, and not allowed to work or tell my family where I was, or have much fun out-
    side the apartment. It was very stressful..

    I moved on and had 2 more children with a verbally abusive cheater, and left
    him after I found him cheating on me with my very best friend. I was alone with
    4 children. I decided I was going to be alone and just go to school to become a
    BSN, and specialize in either neonatal or obstetrics. I started going to college in
    2008, and just received my associates in general education. I am now moving
    on to the university!

    During the time I have been going to school, I met my soulmate. He is kind,
    gentle, and thoughtful. He is a great step father for my children, and we ended up having one of
    our very own, but not before we took full custody of his 3 children. Their biological mother was
    (and is still) hooked on heroin. She signed us over custody with the help from social services,
    giving us full custody of his twins, and a boy that was without a tibia on both legs, so his legs were
    amputated when he was 1 year old. He was also born with only 3 fingers on each hand, a result
    of a condition called split hand malformation. We have had them full time now for 7 years, and just
    recently sent the twins to college. We struggle now to pay our bills, and to sometimes put food on
    the table, but I am going to stick to staying in school to become a nurse, and one day I will be able
    to take care of my children. But for now, I have a job as a parent advocate, helping moms and
    dads that are having a hard time parenting, and I also drive for Uber. Both of those jobs together,
    and the school I am currently in, take all the time I might have at home with my family, but I know
    that my hard work and dedication will pay off with success in the end. My husband also has a job
    that he works Monday through Friday 9-5.
    I just want to say thanks to Birthline for helping me with clothes and baby supplies I
    might have also had to go without with all of the other obligations I have in life right

    now. You have been nothing less than a wonderful blessing to me and my family.

    line to help save the lives of the unborn and to encourage & help
    moms to make positive changes in their lives. We have volunteers
    who have been with us for 17+ years. Some even come in extra
    days during our Christmas program. We also have outside volunteers who have been with
    us for 25+ years. PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALL OF THEM.
    ALSO thanks to LOU, THE SALESMAN AT MILE HIGH HONDA , for donating the rubber
    mats for the Pilot he sold us. This was a surprise we discovered when we went to pick it
    up.

    VOLUNTEER LAWYER: If you have a heart for what we do and stand for, please
    consider giving of your time 3 or 4xs a year by attending in an advisory capacity,
    our Saturday morning Board of Director’s meetings. Meetings usually only last 2
    1/2 hrs (9-11:30 am). This is His Ministry! Another Opportunity to Serve Him!
    ALSO SEEKING TWO VOLUNTEER PASTORS
    We would appreciate having a Catholic & Protestant Pastor to attend
    our Board Meetings in an advisory capacity. Only 4 meetings a yr.

    BABY BOTTLE PROGRAM / FUNDRAISER


    Please speak to your church about doing our Baby Bottle Fundraiser. It is a very easy program
    to get going and we can help with the planning of it for Mothers Day? Fathers Day? Respect Life
    Month? Easter Celebration, Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other reason you can think of.
