Sika®-2
Extra quick setting waterproofing compound

Product A ready to use waterproofing liquid. When mixed with cement, sets in 10-20 seconds
to seal severe water infiltrations.
Description
Uses Sika®-2 is used to seal severe water infiltrations in concrete, rock and masonry, thus

allowing a Sika®-1 render to be subsequently applied.


Sika®-2 is part of a range of internationally used normal and quick setting
waterproofing admixtures.

Storage Conditions / 24 months from date of production if stored properly in unopened and undamaged

Information

Application Details
Consumption / Dosage One part Sika-2 is mixed by volume with two parts of Portland cement, (approx. 40%
by weight). Dilution is not recommended.
Substrate Quality The substrate must be structurally sound and free of all traces of contaminants, loose
and friable particles, oils and grease etc.
Substrate Preparation Remove all loosely adhering particles. Use Sika®-4a to seal off extensive areas whilst
still allowing the water to infiltrate.

Application
Instructions
Mixing n Place Sika® -2 into a rubber bowl and then add the fresh Portland Cement.
n Stir briefly for a few seconds. Form the paste by hand into a tapered plug and
place it immediately into the hole pressing firmly for 15 seconds until hard.
n Mix and use immediately
Application Method

1. Concrete: roughened and cleaned


Rock: Cleaned, loose parts removed
2. Infiltration concentrated at a few points
3. Preliminary waterproofing with Sika®-4a cement paste
4. Plastic tube set in Sika®-4a cement paste
5. Water discharging through plastic tube
6. Two coat Sika®-1 rendering on roughened surface of preliminary waterproof
coat (or 1-2 Gunite layers)

7. After removal of plastic tube, plugging of discharge holes with Sika -2 or
Sika®-4a cement paste

8. Final Sika -1 coat and surface finish (or finish Gunite layer)
Notes on Application / When applying Sika® -2;
Limitations n Use only with fresh Portland cement
n Ensure that the cement is stored above 0°C
n Mixing water should be clean, free from any components harmful to cement and
the temperature should be above +5°C
n Rubber glooves and protective googles should be used during application
n Apply barrier cream to arms
n In case of accidental splashes to skin or eyes, immediately rinse with clean
water or boric acid solution. Consult for medical advice immediately
n Product should be stored in well labelled containers
Curing Details Setting time will be affected by the temperature of mixing water and Sika® -2, ambient
temperature, supplier and age of ordinary Portland cement.
