Task 1
You can copy the map or part of it onto the board and add a couple of examples using
your own information. You can then point to a specific topic and give students an
example sentence.
Students then complete their own map. Go round and help if necessary.
Task 2
Ask students to work in pairs and take turns to talk about themselves. Encourage them to
use the ‘Useful phrases’. Go round the class listening and correcting. Point to the topics
on the board and elicit responses from class.
Task 3
Students can complete the questions individually and find a different partner. Encourage
students to take notes while they are interviewing their partner. Point out that different
forms of the question may be possible.
Answer key.
1 Where do you live ? (live)
2 How many people are (there) in your family? (be)
3 What do you do/are you doing? (do)
4 What do you want (want) to do in the future?
5 What do you hate/love/like (hate/love/like)?
6 What is your favourite food? (be)
7 Where do you go/are you going for your holidays? (go)
8 What are your hobbies? (be)
Task 4
Choose a few students to say two things about the person they interviewed. If the level of
your class is low you might need to give examples of two facts about somebody.
Task 5
Students use the information in from exercise 3 to write a short description. This can also
be set as a homework activity.
Extra ideas: Depending on how imaginative the class is and how big it is, it might be
possible to swap around the descriptions. One student reads a description and the rest of
the class guess who it is.
