Caroline Ballard - Letter of Intent
My research will be on Optometry and how the eye functions. Ideas I hope
to include in my research are on the career of Optometrists. Optometry will be my
main focus in my graduation research paper which includes the workings of the
human eye and the different careers involved in optometry. Information on glasses,
contact lenses, eye exams, the human eye, and Optometry instruments are also
included in this graduation project. Some resources that I will be using are, through
the information provided by my mentor, research given with my current internship
program, and by reliable internet sources.
Last year my junior research paper incorporated the idea for the decision
between contact lenses or prescription glasses. For my graduation research project
this year the topic of Optometry coincides with the contact lenses opposed to
glasses research paper. I state this because Optometry is the subject to which
studying the eye is promident. My project will be a Presi presentation
demonstrating what Optometry is and how it corresponds with the mechanics of
the human eye. The judges of the Graduation Project will be involved in my
physical demonstrational portion of the project. For the physical portion of the
project I will be showing how an eye exam works and the process to getting
glasses or contact lenses. The cost of the graduation project will be minimum since
Presi presentations are mostly free of cost and in the physical portion of the
project only needs a few cups as well as a poster. The potential time to be spent in
hours with my mentor will be at least twelve hours. The Presi presentation
should not last longer than eight minutes and the eye exam about ten minutes.
Some possible resources are Joanns craft store, Mighty Dollar, or any store that
carries posters, markers, and cups.
Sincerely,
Caroline Ballard
