LESSON PLAN

Aim To learn the name of different animals


To identify the environment where the animals live
To discover the world around them
To knowledge animals that they didnt know it before
To find information about animals on the web

2. Describe the basic characteristic and the environment of each animal

Session 1
Procedure 1. First, the teacher asks the children: What is your favourite animal?

2. Later, the teacher writes the word "Animals" on the blackboard and
asks the children: What animals do you know? In the meantime, he/she
writes them down on the blackboard.

3. Once the teacher posts all the animals the students know, children, in
pairs, look for some photos of these animals on the Internet in the
computer lab, in order to recognize them or know them, in case of not
knowing the existence of some of them.

4. Then, the teacher shows the students a video of different animals, with
their respective names and pronunciations.

5. Finally, they play a game: Bingo. The teacher shares out a different card
to each student and, as he/she names the animals aloud for the class. Then,
they should repeat the name of the animal aloud and cut it off (mark it) if
that animal appears in the card, until one or several of the players
complete the winning bingo pattern. BINGO!

Session 2
Procedure 1. The teacher explains the students that there are domestic and wild
animals. Pets can live at home or at a farm and are cared for and fed by
people. Wild animals live free in the nature and arent cared or fed by the
people. On the other hand, there are some wild animals that are cared for
and fed by people: animals which live in captivity, in zoos, aquariums or
circuses.

2. Then, the teacher shows different flashcards with a photo of an animal


and the students have to organize them into two groups: wild animals and
domestic animals. They should raise their hand, stand up, come to the
blackboard, choose one flashcard and put them in the correct group.

3. In the end, after complete a series of worksheets, each student has to


draw an animal (wild or domestic), according to its characteristics and to
tell why he/she thinks that animal is wild or domestic. Then, they have to
tell their partner about it.

Session 3
Procedure 1. The teacher explains that the animals can be classified in different
classes. There are animals that fly, animals that swim and animals that
walk.

2. In pairs, children have to tell their partners about where some animals
live and how they move, in order to classify them in different habitats.

3. Finally, children have to complete some exercises. For example, they


have to connect animals with their homes or their diet, and finally they
have to colour and cut out different animals, and put together with their
places or habitats (forest, sea, polar regions, desert).

Approx. time 45 minutes

Learning outcome To know the different habitats where animals live


To classify the animals according to their characteristics
To be able to communicate facts about animals
To recognize animals by telling characteristics about them, their diet
or their habitats.
