Healing

The Christ Cure

By Kenneth W. Hagin

We have the anointing or power of God. And with that power, we

can take what God says in His Word, believe it, act on it, and
receive it for ourselves.

And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints
which dwelt at Lydda. And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed
eight years, and was sick of the palsy. And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee
whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. And all that dwelt at Lydda and
Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

Acts 9:3235

This portion of Scripture tells the story of a helpless paralytic named Aeneas, who was healed
when Peter told him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ cures you . . . (Acts 9:34 Weymouth). As the story
opens, we see a man named Peter who has been scurrying from town to town, village to village,
synagogue to synagogue, and anywhere else he could find to preach.

Peter is telling people everywhere about Jesus Christ, the Man with whom he walked; the Man
whom he saw die on the Cross for them; the Man whom he saw ascend from the Mount of Olives
on a cloud of glory after telling His disciples, tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be
endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).

And now Peter has come to Lydda. Cant you just see him as he finishes his first service and one
of the brethren runs up to him and says, Oh, Peter, weve got a sad casea man by the name of
A`eneas. He has been paralyzed for eight years. Will you go see him? He cant make it out to the
services?
In my minds eye, I go down to Aeneas house with Peter. I see Peter approach Aeneas sickbed,

and I see Aeneas look up sadly.

I can imagine him saying to Peter, Im glad youve come. Ive tried all the doctors: Ive done
everything I know to do, and Im still not any better. They say its incurable. Do you have any
ideas?

I see a smile break across Peters face, and I know immediately that his mind is racing back to a
certain day just after the Holy Spirit had been poured outa day recounted in the third chapter
of Acts.

In his memory, Im sure Peter is walking up once again to the Gate called Beautiful. A wretched
beggar sits beside the gate. He stinks from the stench of all the animals around him and of dirt as
people walking by kick dust on his hunched-over frame. There this lowly figure sits, shaking that
little tin cup, rattling those coins in the bottom of it.

I see Peter as he walks up to that beggar and says, I dont have any silver, and I dont have any
gold. But such as I have, give I you! (Acts 3:18).

Peter witnessed that beggar leap and walk that day, healed by the power of God. And now, as he
looks down at Aeneas, he says, Aeneas, I can help you too!

Im sure Peter also told Aeneas, Now, Aeneas, Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. And
not only is He the Son of the Living God, He has commissioned me to preach the Gospel, the
Good News, of which I am a witness. Then Im sure Peter proceeded to tell Aeneas, I was
there when a group of us disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee and the storm came. Jesus
came up to us walking on the water! I said, If that be You, Lord, bid me come. Then I crawled
out of the boat, and I walked on the water! It wasnt until I took my eyes off Jesus and started
looking at circumstances, Aeneas, that I began to sink. But He reached out and grabbed hold of
me! And we walked back to the boat together (Matt. 14:2832).

After we landed on the other side, Aeneas, I saw Jesus set free the demoniac of the Gadarenes
[Mark 5:119]. I was also walking down the road with Him when the 10 lepers met Himand
they were healed as they went (Luke 17:1219).
Aeneas, I was with Jesus when the ruler Jairus came requesting prayer for his daughter. We
were on our way to Jairus house when messengers came and told him, Dont bother the Master
any longer; your daughter is dead. I was there, and I saw it. Jesus turned to Jairus and said,
Only believe.

And, oh, Aeneas, I was there in Jairus house when Jesus took the damsel by the hand and
raised her from the dead [Mark 5:3543]!

Let me tell you something else about Jesus, Aeneas. We were walking down the road one day
and saw a funeral procession in Nain. And Jesus went over and raised the young man who was
dead back to life again [Luke 7:1115]!

And, Aeneas let me tell you something else: Jesus Christ now cures you! Arise and walk!

Im sure that Aeneas faith was so high at that point that he leaped out of that bed. Jesus Christ,
the One he believed in, had healed him too! And the Word of God says that all of Lydda and
Saron saw his healing and turned to the Lord (Acts 9:35).

Notice that the miracle of Aeneas healing occurred after the Day of Pentecost. That puts his
healing within this present dispensation of the Holy Spirit, for we are living in the same
dispensation as the Early Church. Anyone who studies the Word in depth knows its true. As
long as were living in the same dispensation, all of the spiritual and scriptural laws pertaining to
that dispensation are still in effect. Healing is still in effect for us today!

Realize the impact of the words Peter spoke to Aeneas: Jesus Christ cures you! Grasp in your
spirit the magnitude of the power contained in those words.

The Word of God says, with his stripes we ARE healed (Isa. 53:5). Since Jesus Christ has
cured us by His stripes (1 Peter 2:24), we have a right to be well! Then why do some people
remain sick? Why doesnt everyone get healed? The answer can be found in Luke chapter 4.

We read here that Jesus Christ has been traveling throughout Galilee preaching and teaching, and
healing all who were oppressed of the devil. The Bible says that He became well known
throughout the region. Returning to His hometown of Nazareth, however, He encountered only
hostility and unbelief when He visited the synagogue.

Jesus began to read to them from the scroll of Isaiah: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because
he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them
that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:1819).

Then Jesus closed the scroll and sat down. All eyes were fixed on Him. He said, . . . This day is
this scripture fulfilled in your ears (v. 21).

Oh, what a revival they could have had that day in Nazareth! There was no need for anyone in
Nazareth to let the sun set that day on their sin, sickness, disease, or anything else that held them
captive and bound. There was no need for anyone to go to bed that night with any pain left in his
or her body. Jesus had just told them that He had come to set them free!

What a celebration they could have had! Why didnt they receive their healing? It is very simple:
They refused to believe.

I want you to notice something. Peter said to Aeneas, Jesus Christ cures you. Arise! and
Aeneas arose because Aeneas believed.

And if we today will only believe what the Word of God says without pulling back from it, we
will receive blessing after blessing. It is when we refuse to believe that we do not receive.

Therefore, it is up to you to believe and receive from God. In His death, burial, resurrection, and
ascension and seating on High, Jesus Christ already has purchased everything youll ever need.
We talk about Jesus blood being shed for the redemption of sin. Yes, it was, but that blood also
was shed to obtain our healing. Jesus Christ has healed you. Its now time for you to arise and
receive.

We have the anointing or power of God. And with that power, we can take what God says in His
Word, believe it, act on it, and receive it for ourselves. That is why it is now up to you to receive

whatever you want from God.

Peter said, Aeneas, Jesus Christ cures you. Arise! That same Jesus is still walking up and down
the face of the earth by His Holy Spiritand that same Jesus will cure you! Take that verse of
Scripture and put your own name on itfor example: John, Jesus Christ cures you. Barbara,
Jesus Christ cures you. Ruth, Jesus Christ cures you. Or, Ken, Jesus Christ cures you.

Based on Gods Word, I can confidently say to youwhoever you are, wherever you are, and
whatever your situation: Jesus Christ cures you! Arise and receive your healingright now!

Picture Yourself Healed

By Kenneth W. Hagin

If you need healing, find and meditate on a Bible passage that tells of someone receiving their
healing.
In other words, as you drive to work, go about your day, cook dinnereven as you begin to go
to sleep at night, imagine that persons story. Picture the passage in
your mind, reliving in your thoughts the experiences that person
went through according to the Word. This will paint a picture of
God the Healer at work.

After you have a picture of that person receiving healing from God
firmly painted in your heart and mind, begin to picture yourself
receiving healing! Picture Jesus receiving stripes upon His back to
obtain your healing. Imagine Him on the Cross, providing total well-being for youbody, soul,
and spirit. Dwell on Gods healing power at work in your body, and see it affecting a healing and
a cure in your particular situation.

Discover What the Word Says

By Kenneth W. Hagin

A person cant receive from God beyond his actual knowledge of

Gods Word. So to develop faith for healing, you must discover
what the Word says about it.

Then meditate upon those scriptures until your heart is settled on the fact that healing is Gods
will for you!

Its important that you dont hinder your prayers,

saying, If it be Thy will. God has already made
His will known concerning healing, so approach
Him on the authority of His Word. James 1:6 says
we are to . . . ask in faith, nothing wavering . . .
, or we will not receive what we desire from
Him.

Continually confess and believe that by Jesus

stripes, I was healednothing waveringand meditate on Isaiah 53:5, First Peter 2:24, and
Matthew 8:17. Then as First John 5:1415 states, be confident (1) that youve prayed according
to Gods will; (2) that He has heard you; and (3) that you have the petition you desire of Him!
Back to the Basics

By Rev. Kenneth W. Hagin

No matter how well we know a subject, if we dont continue to practice or review what we have
learned, we will forget some things. There are certain subjects we need to continually brush up
on, and healing is one of them.

Often when ministers in the word of faith movement begin a sermon by saying, Im going to
teach on the subject of healing, most people in the congregation will say to themselves, I
already know about healing. Well, people may think they already know all there is to know about
healing, but when theres a healing line, more than half the congregation will get in line for
prayer! That tells me they dont know as much about healing as they think. Or they dont know
how to walk in the light of what they know.

No matter how well we know a subject, if we dont continue to practice or review what we have
learned, we will forget some things. A person may have acquired spelling, math, or computer
skills, but if he hasnt used them in a while, when he does try to use them, he may discover that
his skills are rusty. The same thing can happen in spiritual matters. You see, many Christians
know about the subject of healing, but theyre not as proficient in healing as they could be
simply because they havent practiced what they know. In other words, they dont continually
study the subject and act on what theyve learned.

There are certain subjects we need to continually brush up on, and healing is one of them.

The Bible teaches that there are many ways to receive healing: through the healing anointing;
through a manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit, through the laying on of hands; through the
Name of Jesus; and so forth. In this article, I want to study the life and power that reside in Gods
Word. Gods Word is the never-failing remedy for whatever you need. No matter the sickness or
disease, Gods Word has the answer for you!

PROVERBS 4:2022
20 my son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they [Gods words] are life unto those that find them and HEALTH TO ALL THEIR
FLESH.

According to this passage of Scripture, what is health to all mans flesh? Gods words are! Does
this passage say, Attend to My words, for they are health unto your spirit? No! It says Gods
Word is health to your flesh!
You see, God is interested in our flesh. He wants His Spirit dwelling in a body that is healthy and
whole, because He wants what is on the inside (His Spirit) to be demonstrated or manifested on
the outside.

In John 6:63, Jesus tells us that Gods Word is full of lifeof healing, health, and happiness. Its
full of whatever you need at any given moment. Gods Word is where your answer is!

JOHN 6:63
63 . . . the words that I [Jesus] speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Yes, there are powerful moves of Gods Spirit and awesome physical manifestations of Gods
power. But Gods power is also in His Word! Not only does His Word contain power; it contains
life.

You see, the Word of God is like medicine to our body. What happens when a person takes
medicine? The medicine works to heal his body! We need to learn how to take the medicine of
the Word of God and let it heal our body.

Lets take a closer look at Proverbs 4:2022:

PROVERBS 4:2022
20 My son, ATTEND to my words; INCLINE THINE EAR unto my sayings.
21 LET THEM NOT DEPART from thine eyes; KEEP THEM in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

The word attend in verse 20 means to give ones undivided attention. This verse could be
better understood if we read it like this: Give your undivided attention to the words of God.
When someone says, I want your undivided attention, we know that means were not supposed
to be thinking about anything else, looking at anything else, or doing anything else, but were
supposed to focus directly on what that person is saying to us.

And that is exactly what God wants us to do! He wants us to shut out everything around us, and,
without any interruptions, give our undivided attention to His Word! That is what the phrase
attend to My words in Proverbs 4:20 tells us.

The second part of Proverbs 4:20 states, Incline your ear to My sayings. The word incline
simply means to listen. Again, we could better understand verse 20 if we read it this way: Listen
with your ears to what I am saying. God is telling us to open up our ears to what He is saying.

Its interesting to note that a person can have perfect hearing, but if he decides he doesnt want to
listen to someone whos talking, he can tune him or her out, so to speak. In other words, the
sound of someone talking goes in his ears, but he doesnt really hear what that person is saying.

We shouldnt tune out Gods Word. We need to open up our ears. In opening up our ears to His
Word, we are closing our ears to everything thats contrary to what God says. So many times, we
listen to what God says, but we also listen to what So-and-so says. We begin listening to this
person or that person, but its only what God says that matters!

Its important for us to open our ears to the Word of God and turn off everything else so that our
undivided attention is on what God has to say. That is where the victory is. You see, when you
close your ears to outside things and keep your ears open to the Word of God; you are closing
your ears to fear, doubt, and unbelief.

What we hear is very important, because what we hear and pay attention to is what we will
respond to.

Proverbs 4:21 says, Let them [Gods words] not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst
of thine heart. The phrase Do not let them depart from your eyes doesnt mean we are
supposed to walk around with our Bible hanging down from our forehead over our eyes! If we
did walk around like that, we would bump into things, and we would never get anything
accomplished! But that phrase does mean that when we are facing the circumstances of life
sickness, disease, financial lack, and so forthwe are to look to the Word of God instead of
looking at the circumstances.

If youve been attacked with sickness, you can probably look at your body and see that an illness
is present, or you can feel the presence of that condition. But you arent to respond to that!
Instead, look to the Word of God, which says, You are healed and made whole (Isa. 53:5; I
Peter 2:24), and respond to what Gods Word says!

Many people go to God and respond to His Word in the bad times, but in the good times, they
dont respond to God. They dont give Gods Word the same attention they did when they were
going through a test or trial. Then, when they find themselves in bad times again, they often
falter. We need to respond to Gods Word in the bad times and in the good times! In His Word,
God tells us what to do and how to act in every situation and circumstance of everyday life. He
also tells us how to receive healing and how to stay healed. Gods Word instructs us on how to
get out of our difficulties and troubles and how to stay delivered!

We need to respond to Gods Word no matter what kind of circumstances we may be facing.
Unfortunately, many people dont want to respond to Gods Word if it means they have to live a
godly life-style. Knowing they have to live a certain way puts responsibility on them!

God has given us His Word, but we have to act on it! If we want to live a successful Christian
life, we have a part to play.

By way of illustration, when it comes to taking medicine in the natural, we have certain
responsibilities. Most people have had a prescription filled at a pharmacy at one time or another.
There are always instructions on the medicine telling how much medicine to take, when to take
it, and how to take it. For example, the bottle may read: Take one tablet every six hours, Take
one pill three times a day, or Take one pill in the morning and one pill at night with food.

If the person doesnt follow the instructions, he could get into trouble by taking too much or not
enough of the medicineor by taking the dosages too often or not often enough.

When someone is taking medicine, he must be very conscientious to take it according to the
doctors prescription, because the medicine will not be effective, or it wont be as effective, if it
is not taken properlyaccording to instructions.

We must do the same thing with the prescription that God has written for us. It is very simple,
and it is found in Proverbs 4:20 and 21. In this passage, we find four steps to taking the medicine
of Gods Word.

Number one: Attend, or give attention, to Gods Word.

Number two: Incline your ear to Gods Wordlistens to it!
Number three: Dont let Gods Word depart from before your eyes. In other words, focus your
eyes on what Gods Word says about your situation, not on what the circumstances say. Instead
of believing a negative report, believe the report of Gods Word, which says you are healed and
whole.
Number four: Keep Gods Word in your heart.

Regarding step number threekeeping your eyes focused on the Word rather than on the bad
reportI dont want anyone to misunderstand me on the issue. I thank God for good doctors; I
believe they help as much as they can. I have nothing against doctors, and I dont have any
problem with someone who goes to see one! There is absolutely nothing wrong with Christians
going to see a doctor. Going to a doctor does not take away from your faith as long as you keep
the Word as your focuskeep it uppermost in your heart and mind. You must simply keep
Gods report as your focus, and believe what His Word has to say.
There is power, health, and life in the Word of God! We must hide Gods Word in our heart (Ps.
119:11) so that when we face a test or trial, we will take the Word of God and walk on through to
victory.

The Word has come to heal us and to set us free. Psalm 107:20 says, He [God] sent his word,
and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. Healing belongs to us!

We must know what the Word of God says for ourselves in order to appropriate it in our lives.
And no matter how much we know about Gods Word, we must never forget the basics. You see,
no matter how much we grow spiritually, we will never outgrow the basics of Gods Word. And
we must continually review what we know on the subject of healing if we want to stay sharp, so
to speak, and successfully achieve our objective of walking in divine health.

Possessing the Promise of Healing

By Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin

Divine healing is an accomplished fact. It is a gift, like salvation,

already paid for at Calvary. Have you accepted Gods gift of
healing? Are you experiencing it in your life in full? If not, its
time for you to possess the promise of healing and enjoy complete health in every area!

I have prayed and prayed. I have been in healing meetings all over the country and have been
prayed for many times, but still I am not healed. Can you help me?

This plaintive appeal has been heard many times by ministers. They pray for sick persons, but
often the sick leave as they camenot healed.

Why is it that some are healed instantly while others trudge from place to place seeking healing,
only to be disappointed time after time?

Why is it that some who are pillars in the church often suffer for years while others who are less
devout receive a sudden miracle from God?

Is God a respecter of persons (Acts 4:34)? Or have we failed in our approach to healing, lacking
a complete understanding of what Gods Word teaches on the subject?
Much emphasis has been placed on the practice of
anointing with oil, laying on of hands, and praying for the sick. But there is more to healing than
anointing with oil, just as there is more to salvation than prayer.

The anointing oil, the ministers prayer, and the laying on of hands are simply methods, or points
of contact. In themselves, they do not heal. They are avenues through which we can release our
faith in Gods Word.

Much emphasis also has been placed on the gifts of healings (1 Cor. 12:28), which are among
the gifts of the Spirit mentioned in First Corinthians 12:810: For to one is given by the Spirit
the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by
the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of
miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of
tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.

There will be manifestations of these supernatural gifts when people preach them, teach them,
believe in them, and yield to the Spirit of God; but these gifts are not always in operation.

Often new Christians are healed by such special manifestations. Then the next time they are sick,
instead of believing Gods Word, they expect to be healed in this same way, and they are
disappointed when they are not.

I have found in my ministry that supernatural manifestations of healing usually are seen either
among sinners or among denominational people who have not heard divine healing taught. I
have seldom, if ever, seen them work for Full Gospel people.

Why? Because gifts of healings and supernatural manifestations are given primarily to advertise
the Gospel and to gain the attention of those outside the Church. The believer should be healed
by releasing his faith in the Word of God.

We must distinguish between healings obtained through supernatural gifts or manifestations and
those obtained by exercising faith in Gods Word alone.

It also must be understood that an individual does not operate these supernatural gifts; they are
manifested through him. I cant make them operate any time I want to; I can only stay open for
the manifestation of the Spirit of God as He wills (1 Cor. 12:11).

We should stay open for the manifestations of the Spirit of God, but we do not have to wait for
one in order to be healed. Thats good news, friend. God wants us to be healed, and He has made
provision for us to receive and possess healing.

The gifts of healings have been manifested many times in my ministry, but I cannot make them
work at will. I cant push a button or pull a lever, so to speak, and make the gifts start working.
They operate as the Spirit wills. Yet we are instructed not to wait for Him, since He has already
done something about our healing at the cross.
Healing belongs to us. It isnt simply a matter of prayer. It isnt simply a matter of some spiritual
gift in operation. Healing belongs to us because it has been provided for us by the Lord Jesus
Christ.

When I tell people they dont have to pray to be healed, they look at me in amazement. Many
have failed to receive healing because they have based their faith on prayer instead of on Gods
Word. They expected prayer to do for them what Gods Word will do for them. Prayer is
successful only when it is based on the promises in Gods Word.

When people come to the altar for prayer, find out what their need is. If a man comes to be
saved, you could pray for him for six weeks, but until he acts on what God said in His Word, he
will get up and go home unsaved.

Turn to Gods Word. Show him what the Bible says. Get him to believe it and to act upon it. As
far as God is concerned, the man is already saved. From Gods standpoint, salvation is already
bought and paid for. So it is not a matter of Gods saving him; it is a matter of his accepting the
salvation God offers!

Similarly, it is not a matter of Gods baptizing someone with the Holy Spirit; it is a matter of the
person accepting the gift of the Holy Spirit that God offers. Likewise, it is not a matter of Gods
healing an individual; it is a matter of the person accepting the gift of healing God has already
provided.

Some say, Well, I believe God is going to heal me sometime. I believe that in Gods own good
time and in His own way, He will do it. That kind of thinking is out of line with the Word of
God. First Peter 2:24 says, . . . by whose stripes ye were healed.

Notice it says, Were, not going to be. If I believe what the Bible says, then I believe that we
were healed. Peter is looking back to Calvary. I was healed then. I accept that healing now.

God laid on Jesus our sickness and diseases; Jesus bore them. He was stricken, smitten of God,
and afflicted with our diseases (Isa. 53:4). Therefore, Satan has no right to put on us what God
put on Jesus.

Someone may say, It may be the will of God for me to be sick. God may get more glory out of
my being sick than if I were well.
What right, then, would God have to put your sickness on Jesus if He wanted you to keep
bearing it? There is no need for both of you to bear it. Because Jesus bore it, you are free!

All of Gods blessings and provisions are conditional. He gave us His Word to let us know what
conditions must be met in order for us to receive these blessings. They wont just fall on us
automatically like ripe cherries fall off a tree. There is a God-ward side and a man-ward side to
every battle and to every blessing. God has His part to play, but man also has his part to play.
Mans part is to obey God and to receive what He has provided.

Paul said that what happened to Israel happened as an example for us (1 Cor. 10:11). When God
led the children of Israel out of Egypt (which is a type of the world), He didnt abandon them in
the wilderness; He had a further blessing for them. He had another land for them: Canaans land.

Canaan is a type of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and our rights and privileges in Christ, which
include healing. God promised the children of Israel repeatedly that He was going to give them
that land. When they finally crossed over the Jordan River into Canaan, God said, Every place
that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses
(Joshua 1:3). God had said He would give them the land, but the people had to possess it.

Thats how it is with our rights and privileges in Christ. Healing belongs to us. God has provided
it for us. But we have to possess it. Unless we possess the provision, we will not enjoy its
benefits.

Many people are waiting for God to do something about their sickness. They say, If God ever
heals me, then Im going to believe it.

I have talked to sinners who had the same idea about salvation: They wanted to leave it all up to
God. One man said, If God wants to save me, He will. Im just waiting on God. I couldnt talk
him out of the notion, and, sadly, he died without God.

Gods Word says that it is Gods will to save people. He invites them to come: . . . And
whosoever will, let them take the water of life freely (Rev. 22:17). The responsibility for
receiving is on mans side.

The believer sometimes makes the same mistake when it comes to other things Gods Word
promises. He thinks erroneously, If God wants me to have this; He will give it to me. If I dont
get it, He doesnt want me to have it. We need to get into the Word of God and find out what
belongs to us. If something is promised to us, or if it is provided for us in His Word, it is His
will. All we have to do then is to possess it!

We need to settle this in our minds, because as long as we waver, we will not receive anything.
James 1:6 and 7 says, But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering, For he that wavereth is like a
wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man thinks that he shall receive
any thing of the Lord. Often we dont receive because we waver.
Healing is a gift, like salvation, already paid for at Calvary. All we need to do is accept it. All we
need to do is possess the promise that is ours. As children of God, we must realize that healing
belongs to us!

Healing -- A Forever-Settled Subject

By Kenneth W. Hagin

One of the paramount questions believers ask today is not whether God is able to heal, but
whether He is willing to heal. Is it always Gods will to heal? The answer is, Most assuredly,
yes!

When we want to understand Gods will about a subject, we go to Gods Word, because Gods
Word is Gods will. And the Bible tells us that healing is the will of God. The Bible also tells us,
For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven (Ps. 119: 89) and Heaven and earth shall pass
away: but my [Jesus] words shall not pass away (Luke 21:33). Healing is a forever-settled
subject because Gods Word is forever settled!

Most of us understand that God dealt with the sin

problem of humanity by sending His Son Jesus to be a Sacrifice and a Substitute for us.

ISAIAH 53:5
5 . . . He was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities . . . .

1 PETER 2:24
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree . . . .
So we know that God dealt with the sin problem in Christs great substitutionary work. But both
of these scriptures also state that God dealt with sickness and disease for us in the same act of
redemption.

ISAIAH 53:45
4 surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED.

1 PETER 2:24
24 WHO his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: BY WHOSE STRIPES YE WERE HEALED.

The prophet Isaiah declared Gods will concerning healing when he said about the Messiah, . . .
with his stripes we are healed. The Apostle Peter restates Gods will concerning healing in First
Peter 2:24: . . . by whose stripes ye were healed. Isaiah prophesied of the coming Messiah and
of redemption. Peter was an eyewitness to what took place as described by Isaiah. Peter was
present when the Roman soldiers put those stripes on Jesus back and hung Him on the Cross at
Golgothas hill.

Lets look at another New Testament counterpart of Isaiah 53:5.

MATTHEW 8:1617
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him [Jesus] many that were possessed with
devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet, saying, HIMSELF
TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES, AND BARE OUR SICKNESSES.

By healing the sick in His earthly ministry, Jesus was fulfilling Isaiahs prophecy. . . with his
stripes we are healedbefore He ever went to the Cross and legally obtained redemption for us.
Friend, healing is one of the benefits of our redemption! According to the Word of God, Jesus
not only died and rose again for our sins, but He died and rose again for our sicknesses and
diseases too. Healing belongs to us just as salvation belongs to us. Healing is part and parcel of
our redemption!

Looking at the Psalms, we again see that healing is one of the benefits of our redemption.

PSALM 103:13
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his BENEFITS:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.

Verse 3 says the Lord heals all of our diseasesnot just a fewnot just our minor ailments. The
word all means nothing left out. Nothing is left out of the redemptive work of Christnot a
headache, not a stomachache, not any kind of cancer, nor any kind of heart troublenot any
sickness or disease! In Gods plan of redemption, every sickness and disease has been dealt with!

Now, what about Jesus, Who consummated our redemption in His death, burial, and
resurrection? Jesus came to the earth to do the will of the Father. In fact, over and over again,
Jesus said, I have come to do the will of Him who sent me, and in John 14:9, He said, . . . He
that hath seen me hath seen the Father . . . .As Jesus walked this earth and fulfilled His earthly
ministry, He was the will of God in action!

So lets look at yet another passage of Scripture

that further illustrates Gods will concerning
healing.

LUKE 5:1213
12 And it came to pass, when he [Jesus] was in a
certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him,
saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I WILL: be thou clean. And immediately
the leprosy departed from him.

The questions concerning Gods will to heal is answered very explicitly in this passage. In verses
12 and 13, when the leper questioned Jesus specifically concerning His will to heal, Jesus
answered, I will! The New International Version says, Lord, if you are willing, you can
make me clean. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. I am willing, he said. Be
clean! And immediately the leprosy left him. The New English Bible renders this verse: . . .
Indeed I will; be clean again, and another translation says, . . . It is my pleasure; be clean.

Verse 12 of the King James Version says the man was full of leprosy, indicating that the man
had leprosy that was in the last stages. Leprosy is a horrific disease that deforms and mutilates
the body as it progresses. We can gather from this verse that since the man was full of leprosy,
the disease was probably more advanced than just a spot on his arm or leg. Yet with one sentence
from the Masters lips: . . . I will: be thou clean . . . , the leper was healed (v. 13)!

Most Christians today dont have a problem seeing Jesus in His earthly ministry as the Healer.
They dont question that He was anointed by God and that He had the power to heal sickness and
disease (Luke 4:1819; Acts 10:38). Most Christians dont even question so much Jesus ability
to heal people today as they do His willingness to demonstrate that healing power on their
behalf.

However, any question about Jesus willingness to heal is answered very vividly in this account
of the leper in Luke chapter 5. And since Jesus hasnt changed (Heb. 13:8; Mal. 3:6), and He was
willing to heal then, He is willing to heal now, and Hes willing that you be healed. We need to
have faith not only in Jesus power and ability to heal, but also in His willingness and
compassion to heal. We should no longer question whether or not Jesus wants us healed, because
He provided healing for us in His great act of redemption. And He is the same yesterday, today,
and forever. He hasnt changed! He is still saying today, I will!
The Double Cure

By Kenneth E. Hagin

Our redemption in Christ is twofold. Jesus not only died for our sins on the Cross of Calvary, His
blood was also shed so you and I might live free from sickness and disease.

Isaiah chapter 53 holds the key to both our spiritual and physical redemption.

ISAIAH 53:45
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

In the Hebrew language, the fourth verse reads, Surely he hath borne our sicknesses, and carried
our pains . . . . In verse 10 of Isaiah 53, the King James Version reads, Yet it pleased the Lord
to bruise him; he hath put him to GRIEF . . . . The word grief comes from the Hebrew word
for sick. In the Hebrew, this verse literally
says, He has made Him sick.

Christians dont have a problem believing Isaiah

53:6, . . . the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity
of us all. But many cant believe the rest of the
redemptive plan, which we saw in verse 4: . . .
he hath borne our sicknesses, and carried our
pains . . . .

The purpose of Jesus bearing our sins was so we

might be free from spiritual death and eternal
separation from God. The purpose of His bearing
sickness and disease was so we might be free
from infirmities. If you believe that God laid your
iniquities on Jesus for your salvation, then you
should also be able to believe that God laid
sickness and disease on Him so you could be
healed.
Satan is the author of sickness, not God, but he lies to people and makes them think that has God
put sickness on them. Or he tries to make them think that God is using sickness to teach them
something. Id just as soon hear a donkey bray at midnight in a tin barn than to hear people talk
this way! God does not need the devil to teach you anything!

This type of thinking makes me angry. You see, thinking like this almost cost me my life. When
I was on the bed of sickness as a 15 and a 16-year-old Baptist boy, this is what people told me. I
didnt learn anything. Instead, I became bitter and almost turned against God.

Later, after I was healed and went into the ministry, I learned that if I spent time teaching people
about the double curethat Jesus not only died for the remission of our sins but also for the
healing of our bodiesI could change their wrong thinking. And when people saw that it was
Gods will for them to be healed, it was easy for them to receive what was rightfully theirs.

Lets discuss why people sometimes lose their healing after theyve received it. Ive had people
say to me that they felt perfectly well for a period of time after I laid hands on them. Then, all the
symptoms came back, and they were worse than they before.

This is a simple problem to address. The reason people lose their healing is because they were
healed through anothers faith. Sometimes folks receive healing through a special manifestation
of the Holy Spirit, such as through a word of knowledge or the gifts of healing, for example. But
when they get back home, theyre on their own; theyre operating on their own faith.

When I began to question certain people who lost their healing, I found out that as soon as the
symptoms started coming back on them, they said, Well, I thought I was healed, but I guess Im
not anymore.

Because they didnt know how to resist the devil, they took all of their symptoms back. At the
first sign of a symptom, they wavered in faith and believed the symptom over the truth of Gods
Word. Then they probably said something, such as, Well, I thought I was healed, but I guess I
wasnt.

You see, you have to stand your ground against the devil. At the first sign that a symptom is
trying to come back on you, tell the devil, No, youre not putting that back on me. Im healed.
Then quote First Peter 2:24, Matthew 8:17, and Isaiah 53:45. Remind the devil of what the
Word says.

Unfortunately, instead of rising up and meeting the devil with the Word of God and commanding
his power to be broken, many people yield to him. Why? Because they dont have a foundation
of Gods Word in their lives.

Theyre depending on others to carry them with their faith and prayers, and that will only work
temporarily. To receive permanently, you must use your own faith.

When you know the power and authority of the Name of Jesus and that you have a biblical right
to that Name, the devil wont have any power over you. Then when symptoms try to come back
on you, you wont be filled with fear. Youll just simply laugh at the devil and say, Satan, Jesus
whipped you more than two thousand years ago. Now leave my body! And hell have to leave.

You cant maintain your healing if it has come as a result of another persons faith or
through the gifts of the Spirit, unless your faith is developed in the Word of God. But beating
the devil is as simple as standing your ground and resisting him. He doesnt have any choice but
to flee (James 4:7)!

Build Strong Faith through the Word

Faith begins where the will of God is known. Rest assured that God wants you well. Healing
promises are found throughout the Old and New Testaments. Following are a few scriptures to
build your faith where healing is concerned.

quicken your mortal bodies . . . .

Luke 10:19 (KJV) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
