DDA 3012 Coursework 

– TENDER & ESTIMATING

This assignment covers a specific aspect of tender and estimating, and gives you
hands-on practice in participating in the tender. Throughout this course, you will be
working on past tender project and make a technical report on the participated tender.
At the beginning of the course, select a tender or proposal from government, private
sector or friends in the field of civil engineering works. Pretend you are the class B/C/F
Civil contractor registered with Pusat Khidmat Kontraktor (PKK) and Construction
Industry Development Board (CIDB). Pretend that you need to select, complete the
document and submit the tender or proposal to the owner. These projects should be
easy to comprehend and relatively straightforward, example: building construction,
supply and delivery of civil product or services, small design and build project or building
maintenance proposal. The point is not the completing of the entire tender requirement
but the process involved in tender administration and management.

PROJECT Submissions

1.     The submission of the project will be in hardcopy and softcopy (e-


mail/Disk/CDR/CDRW/DVD).
2.     Attached important site reports, conceptual or detail drawing and other relevant
documents.
3.     The cover of the submission should include the project title, group name, and student
name with identity card number.
4.     Written assignments should be professionally written, edited, and formatted as detailed
below: -

a.    Font – Arial
b.    Size – 11
c.     Paper - A4 (White 70/80 grams)
d.     Page must be numbered
5.     Below is the outline of the mock Tender Project Table of Content for your
submissions.

1.     Tender Definition and Description (to meet the needs of the end user)
Define the tender and briefly describe the tender.
What is the tender or project all about?
2.     Tender Scope (to meet the project definition)
Define the work that must be accomplished
How the tender will be done?
3.     Tender Budgeting (to match the project definition and scope)
Define the budget by determining direct and indirect cost, as well as contingencies.
What is the problem for the contractor in participating in the tender or bid?
4.     Tender Planning (the strategy to accomplish the work)
Select and assign project staffing
Identify the task required to accomplish the tender.
What is the terms and condition in your tender or contract?
5.     Tender Scheduling & Tracking (to ensure the tender is progressing as planned)
List and arrange the activity of your tendering process in a logical sequence.
6.     Tender Submission (final completion to ensure owner satisfaction)
Make a checklist on the item required for your tender submission.
What have you done to make sure you are submitting a successful tender or proposal?
7.     References, Appendices and Other relevant supporting documents
Attached all relevant supporting document for your tender submission.
