Hannah has been a dancer at an elite Ballet company for many years and was
completely fine dedicating so much of her life to it. After meeting a musician in a
restaurant however, she begins to realize how much she has given up for her dancing
and she is not even a solo dancer. Can she accept the fact that she has dedicated
herself so strongly to something she may never reach the top of? Can she bring herself
to walk away after so many years of hard work to pursue something else she may not
even like?
This story allows readers to see what it is like to be a dancer in a ballet
company. There are numerous rehearsals, fittings, physical therapy sessions, nutrition
experts, etc. that are constantly controlling the dancers lives. They are simply
expected to give up any kind of outside life, in order to succeed in this difficult field.
Hannah is unusual in that she begins to think about life outside of the studio and is not
sure she is up for the challenge of doing what it takes to get promoted. On the other
hand, whenever she sees other girls get promoted over her she feels jealous and hurt.
Is she meant to be a solo ballerina or merely a background dancer? Readers interested
in dancing, the arts, or romance will enjoy this book wholeheartedly.

Dear Editor,
Summer is a time when the children are outdoors, engaged in many forms of activities.
Watching out for traffic is likely the last thing on their mind.
In 2007 many children aged 14 and younger were killed on the roads of our state. The
most recent national statistics released by the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration show that almost one-fifth (306 children, 18%) of the traffic fatalities in the
14-and younger age group were pedestrians. Of the 305 children who were killed while on
foot, boys accounted for 61% of the total. In addition to the pedestrians fatalities, an
estimated 14, 000 children were injured as pedestrians.
Every adult member of our community needs to become educated about and watch out
for vulnerable child pedestrians. Many myths surround child pedestrians safety such as
Youre safe as long as youre on a crosswalk and If you see the driver, the driver sees
you. Parents need to take immediate action to make sure that their children are informed on
the dos and donts of pedestrian safety. Local governments need to make the construction,
maintenance and enforcement of safe walkways a priority. For example, roads cold be
constructed to include more speed bumps to reduce speed and police officers could be
strategically posted at high traffic areas to monitor drivers.
Lets enjoy our summer outdoor activities, but lets be smart and safe. One childs
death is too many.
