Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer
Heriot-Watt is part of an industry-wide initiative, backed by the UK
government, to support projects that deliver affordable and secure
low-carbon energy. University researchers are developing a range

energy demands. Phase 1 of Project COMET, a 20 million government
project, completed in 2014 and secured further funding to continue this

of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry,
encompasses photovoltaic and thermoelectric
materials, high-performance polymers, porous solids,

at the interface with other disciplines, including
engineering, and has impact in areas including
renewable and sustainable energy and healthcare.
