Assessment of the behaviour under conditions of arcing due to an internal fault on the basis of
criteria 1 to 5 of IEC 62271-200: 2003-11.
The test was carried out in a room mock-up. The switchgear comprised three units and was
arranged with the left side wall of unit 1 having a distance of 100 mm and the rear wall having a
distance of 800 mm to the corner of the room mock-up, covering the gap between switchgear
and test bay wall. The front and right roof projection was 1000 mm.
Power was supplied to the cable terminal of unit 1.
Fabric indicators representing accessibility type A were placed vertically in front of the operator's
side and of the right side wall and behind the switchgear up to a height of 2 m in a uniform
checkerboard pattern, covering an area of 40-50 %. The spacing between indicators and
switchgear was 300 mm. Horizontally arranged fabric indicators representing accessibility type A
were placed at a height of 2 m above the floor in the region between 300 mm and 800 mm in
front of the operator's side, of the right side wall and behind the switchgear in a uniform
checkerboard pattern, covering an area of 40-50 %.

The internal arcing classification of IAC AFLR 40 kA 1 s of the metal-enclosed AC switchgear has
been proved.
The behaviour under conditions of arcing due to an internal fault was assessed on the basis of
criteria 1 to 5 of IEC 62271-200: 2003-11, that were fulfilled in
Test No. 110 8217 - three-phase arc initiation in the cable compartment,
Test No. 110 8219 - three-phase arc initiation in the circuit-breaker compartment and
Test No. 110 8222 - three-phase arc initiation in the busbar compartment.
The test has been PASSED.
