ABSTRACT

Title: SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR NUEVA ECIJA

UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Researcher: Ellen Jane R. Galang

Institution: Tarlac State University

Tarlac City

Degree: Master of Science in Information Technology

This study on the development and validation of Supply Management System for

Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology was undertaken to develop a system

that would ease and improve the operation of the Supply Office.

A software requirement specification was used as basis for the development of the

software. To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed software in terms of ease of use

and reliability, five (5) Supply staffs were asked to judge the software based on their

skills and ability to use the software. Five (5) IT experts were also asked to judge the

software in terms of user interface, database design and security. The study used

questionnaires to summarize the result of evaluation.

Based on the result of the study, the following findings were derived:

1. The Supply Management System for Nueva Ecija University of Science and

Technology was developed based on the Software Requirement Specification

2. The acceptability of the Software as evaluated by Information Technology

experts as to efficiency was confirmed. The experts agreed on the user interface,

database design and security with a grand mean of 4.16.

3. The acceptability of the Software was evaluated by Supply Staff as to ease of

ease and reliability. The Staff agreed on the ease of use and reliability of the software

with grand mean of 4.32.

Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were derived:

1. The Supply Management System for Nueva Ecija University of Science and

Technology is acceptable based on experts opinion that on the systems user interface,

the functionality of barcode reader was used while running the system. Visual

appearance is excellent; there are buttons; navigational element and request for

information that helped the user operate the SMS. Database designed was judged as

excellent based on the logical design and demonstrated synchronization of database.

Likewise, security was judged as excellent because the system can control users and

produce integral records.

2. The Supply Management System for Nueva Ecija University of Science and

Technology is acceptable to the users as to ease of use because of simplicity of operations

and reliability of functions such as creating new items, delivery if items and issuance of

items. In the same way, inventory and report generations are available for a specified

time under specified conditions.

Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the following

recommendations are offered:

1. To Administrators

School officials should allocate funds to support the implementation of the

proposed Supply Management System.

2. To Other Educational Institution

Incentives may be given to researchers who are interested to develop software

solution in their own office or campus area. The school administrators need to

allot funds to support research and development.

3. To Other Supply Institution

They are encouraged to transform their conventional supply management system

to a computerized supply management system

4. To Future Researchers

Similar studies on the application of the system on the supply management way

may be conducted to confirm the findings of this study.
