Resolution: Be it resolved that K-12 curriculum be abolished and BEC be
implemented.

AFFIRMATIVE:

Mr. /Madam Chairperson, honorable judges, worthy opponents, ladies

and gentlemen:

The resolution before us today is that K-12 curriculum be abolished and BEC be implemented.
We the affirmative define a curriculum as a course of study. For example, the curriculum in grade
4 includes arithmetic, geography, reading, and spelling. Abolished as to put an end to. For
example, many people wish that nations would abolish war. Lastly, we affirmative define
reimplemented as to implant again.

The affirmative has three needs for change. First, we recognize that all over the ASEAN
country only the Philippines has no K-12 curriculum. We need to have this curriculum. Second,
we affirm that Filipino students are very behind other countries according to the international
test results. Third, it is very helpful for the students to think/ choose what course they want/ will
be taking when they became college.

In the first place, it is very clear that among ASEAN countries, Philippines were the
only country who has no K-12 curriculum. So why cant Philippines have that? Last curriculum
that we had was 10 years only. Grade must be years of age and precisely student will finish
his/her high school years at the age of 16. They are still under age if they are going to find a job.
If the purpose is to prepare the students for a better life, shouldnt the country think of the needs
of the students?

For our second point, it is clear that Filipino students are way behind other countries
according to the test result. Following from our first points, the Philippines was the only country
that has no K-12 curriculum among the ASEAN countries is no longer alarming. DepEd and
teachers knows it already before having it. It was planned already by those experts persons who
really know what is best for our education. K-12 would pose no difficulty.
Everyone knows that every person especially students longs for a good job in the future.
And for this reason they need to have a good education wherein they can assure to have it what
they want in the future. For example, if they want to go abroad for a job. What they had finished
here it is also credited there because we have the same curriculum already. K-12 is bound to have
some positive effect on our learning.

We propose that school curriculum should be having this as we resolve here: namely, that
k-12 should not be abolished rather it should be a new curriculum.

In conclusion, the affirmative has shown clear needs for change. Education is more
important because it is here then that a person can have his dreams in the future.

NEGATIVE:

Mr./ Madam chairperson, honorable judges, worthy opponents,

ladies and gentlemen: A Blessed Day to All.

The resolution before us today is that K-12 be abolished and BEC be reimplemented.

The definitions are accepted.

You said a while ago that among ASEAN countries only Philippines has no K-12 curriculum.
Secondly, you said that Filipino students are way behind other countries according to the
international test results. Lastly, you said that it is very helpful for the students to think/choose of
what course they will get/ be having when they became college.

As a first speaker of the negative I strongly opposed. Are you sure for all that needs for
change? How sure are you? According to our research the Philippines was not the only country
that has no K-12 curriculum. There are other countries that have no K-12 curriculum such as
Singapore and Myanmar. Yes, it is true that Filipino students are way behind other countries
according to the international test results. But we need to have better education, not more
education.

It is not true that only Philippines has no K-12 curriculum, and besides parents have to
spend more money, for the transportation, tuition fee and food for their students. And how about
for those family who have no enough money to send their children to school? They will just stop
without finishing their course of what they want. Why if it is 10 years of curriculum they and
they will have their college, it is difficult for them to find a job because they did not undergo
senior high school? Why our professionals now, they have just 10 years of curriculum and they
are very good professionals now. 10 years of curriculum is more than enough to have a good life
in the future.

Again we need to have a better education, not more education. Thus, to improve the
quality of education, the government must prioritize the improvement of facilities and teachers
training. Not to have the K-12 curriculum because this is not the solution of why students are
very behind with other countries. Even if K-12 will be done and the teachers are lazy, lack of
enthusiasm to teach, it is useless only. What we need are devout and enthusiastic teachers.

The K-12 curriculums are very shocking. Why? Because their curriculum are suitable
only to overseas jobs and or beneficial only to foreign business. And diplomas of fresh graduates
are not necessary anymore because business companies dont accept fresh high school graduates.

In conclusion, K-12 must be abolished and BEC curriculum should be reimplemented.

K-12 can make hustle in many lives, such as students, teachers and parents.
