Pine Cone Feeders
2 cups lard; 1 cup crunchy peanut butter; 2 cups quick
cooking oats; 2 cups cornmeal; 1 cup flour; 1/3 cup
sugar; 1 cup raisins; 1 cup black oil sunflower seeds; 1
cup cream of wheat (uncooked).
Melt lard and peanut butter together over low heat.
Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients.
The mixture can be poured into plastic molds, contain-
ers or chill and press into pine cones. Cover and store in
the freezer until ready to use. Then put out and watch
the birds go nuts!!!

events and as an important heritage tourist attraction.
The Village plans to reoccupy Kaslo City Halls main floor
by August 14 2018, Kaslos 125th anniversary of incorpo-
ration. The original Council Chambers will be back in use
beside a modern refurbished set of offices. Fund raising
exploration to complete the historic courtroom floor con-
tinues with partners. Work is also underway to fundraise
for the development of a small pocket park on the site of
the 1970s fire hall addition that was demolished in 2014.

Margaret Elisabeth Beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Mallory will be remembered
by sons James (Anna) and Michael (Tammy), daughter Leanne, and
Mallory
grandchildren Abigail, Catherine, Doug, and Hannah, and be missed by
family and friends. Predeceased by her husband Lester, parents Harris and
Dorothy, and her sister Donalda.
1937-2017 Margaret was born in Summerland and spent her childhood in Okanagan
Falls, where she met her future husband. When she was unable to become
a veterinarian, entry to those programs at the time being restricted to only
men, she enrolled in St. Josephs, completing her medical training in 1961.
Her career kept her on the coast of BC, until she came back to the BC interior,
where she met Lester Mallory once again, his family having returned from
the US. They fell in love and were married in Okanagan Falls in 1965. In
1974, they settled in Summerland, remaining there until Lesters retirement
in 1996, when they moved to Kaslo, where they lived until his death in 2007.
During her final years, Margaret lived with her daughter and granddaughter
in Vernon.
She was a sportsman, and competed in figure skating and equestrian events.
Long after her own competitive days had passed, she actively supported and
followed the careers of Canadian athletes in both sports. Margaret was active
in the United Church in Summerland and Vernon, taking on the roles of
board member, organizer, and participant in family-focussed events. A long-
time member of the Okanagan Historical Society, she remained interested
in local and European history throughout her life, and was present at many
medieval themed events as a member of the SCA.
Committal Saturday, March 4 at 2pm in the Kaslo Upper Cemetery,
Kaslo, BC. Memorial Service to follow at a later date.
