Because deaf people cant hear, they can have some
communication problems. For example, they cant hear the
telephone ringing, so they have to set their phone so they can
feel it moving when they get a text. They have the same
problem with the alarm going off in the morning, or when a
friend tries to call them from across the street. They cant listen
to music but they can watch a film with the dialogue written at
the bottom of the screen, and of course they cant use their
mobile phones the same way hearing people do.
So, how can deaf people communicate with others? In many
different ways, as a matter of fact! With people who can speak
and hear, they read lips by looking at the other persons mouth
and they can understand emotions by looking at peoples facial
expressions. With other deaf people they use their hands to
make gestures and signs. Sign language is a special language
for deaf people with its own alphabet and grammar. Its not very
difficult to learn the alphabet, but its really hard to learn to use
it fast and well. Sign language isnt the same for every country
there are hundreds of different sign languages around the
world, but almost all deaf people use signs for communication.
Of course, deaf people can also use computers and the Internet
for information and entertainment, and there are many apps for
smartphones to help them use their phones, such as programs
which can change speaking into written words

1 Deaf people find it difficult to communicate with people who

can hear.?
2 Deaf people can watch a film when there is writing on the
screen. ___
3 Deaf people can understand people by watching their faces.
