The community support through donations and fundraising helped reduce the YMCA's debt significantly. A loan forgiveness from Baker College and a fundraising match challenge helped pay off over $800,000 in debt.

Through donations from fundraising campaigns and events, the YMCA was able to pay off over $48,000 in debt, leaving only $75,000 remaining. Community support has helped bring the YMCA nearly debt free.

Youths programs expanded through more scholarships. Child development programs and membership numbers increased. The YMCA was able to offer more positive and impactful programs.

Our impact is greater

Meet Jerry Rosales, he has been a member here at the Cadillac
Area YMCA since February 2013. Jerry has participated in the
100 Mile swim challenge for the last 3 years, has swam over 370
miles and has met the 100 mile goal each year. He makes a point
to get to the Y and get active about 3 times per week. While here
he met a group of ladies who are in the pool at the same time
each day. They would have conversations while relaxing after their
workouts in the spa, and began talking about the different ethnic
foods we have in our area. One of the ladies asked him where the
best Mexican food was in the area, and he replied, My house.
Jerry has been a caterer and chef for many years, and volunteered
to bring the ladies food if they named the day and time. One week
later Jerry followed through on his promise and had lunch with the
ladies in the Welcome Center at the Y. Our pride in the sense of
community that was created that day is beyond words and we are
gracious to the community for allowing us this honor. This is just
one of the things that makes us here at the YMCA feel we have
the best members!

supportive, from the friendly staff to other members who will cheer for you when
they see you working hard. I like having lots of different equipment to choose from
and the clean facility.
My diet plan to be more selective in my meal choices, going with more protein,
veggies & fruits and NO soda has been working very well. I limit my portions, espe-
cially when I go outside those limits, and that allows me to enjoy a small amount of
anything. This way I dont really feel like I am limiting myself at all.
Since joining the Y a little more than 2 years ago I have lost over100 pounds,
and I feel like I can handle the hard work of keeping it off with the help of my Y

DANCING WITH Y FUNDS RAISED FOR DEVEOPMENT & SCHOLARSHIPS $25,055
Community
In 2016, I was honored to have participated in Dancing for the Y, an annual fundraising
event to help support the Cadillac Area YMCA and the many wonderful programs they have to
offer to the community. Little did I know what kind of journey this would take me on. Per-
sonally, I thought, sure, I can raise money and I have some rhythm, shouldnt be too tough to
Dance for a great cause. Well...let me tell you that I take my hat off to each and every chore-
ographer and dancer that was cast for this event; this was time, work, fear, blood sweat, and
tears but all of that never felt so good.
Along this journey I met my dance partner, Dr. Tim Iseri, and Isabelle Borgstrom, our Cho-
reographer; people I may have never had the greatest pleasure of knowing, as well as all the
other dancers and many members of the YMCA family. I saw how everyone gave their all,
even though their daily lives were busy enough. I felt their hearts, and in essence, I felt mine
growing as well. A New Family, our Dance Family had formed (including all who assisted in
coordinating this event behind the scenes.) It sincerely became more evident that there are
many people out there that will give beyond giving and my sense of Hope and Strength of our
community was overwhelming.
Today, in February 2017, I still feel the warmth and excitement of my journey and how it
has changed my life but more importantly, how so many can come together to help change the
lives of others. Giving, most definitely is life changing in the highest sense.
I am forever grateful for this opportunity to serve. MAY
