Note: If the student is eligible and wishes to apply for more than one Department, he/she has to submit the
application fee for the respective Departments separately.
1. Age limit: 28 years as on 04.05.2016. Age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/Persons with disability
(PWD) category as per Government of India Orders. No age relaxation for OBC and women
candidates
2. Educational Qualification & Eligibility: BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.S. or equivalent degree mentioned above
should be in first class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 out of 10. A valid score in
GATE/JEST/UGC NET in relevant area as the case may be, as specified above is essential.
General Conditions:
1. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
2. Applications received online only will be considered for processing under any circumstances.
3. The applicants will not be allowed to make any changes in the profile registration once submitted. Hence
utmost care should be taken by the candidate while filling the profile.
4. The applicants who wish to apply for more than one programme shall exercise their order of
preference/option of Post Graduate Programmes, at the time of applying itself. The option once exercised
shall be final.
5. SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Persons with Disabilities (PWD) candidates shall upload the relevant
certificate before the prescribed date.
6. Applications in respect of SC/ST/OBC/PWD will be processed only after the receipt of the above proof online.
In other words, non-submission of proof online will lead to rejection of application.
7. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/PWD is applicable as per Govt. of India Orders.
8. Application fee is Rs.600/- per Department (for SC, ST, PWD and women candidates Rs.300/- per Department).
9. The application fee is non-refundable.
10. The applicants who are shortlisted for M. Tech/M.S programmes are required to appear for a written
test/Interview as the case may be.
11. No TA/DA is admissible for written test/interview. The shortlisted students are advised to make their own
arrangements for travelling and lodging for attending written test/interview in Thiruvananthapuram.
12. List of shortlisted students for written test/interview will be displayed in IIST website. Shortlisted students
may download call letter from the website.
13. Students who are expected to complete the degree course in the academic year 2015-2016 are also eligible to
apply provided the consolidated mark list/mark lists of all semesters along with Degree Certificate shall be
produced on or before October 31, 2016. Till the date of submission of Degree Certificate, the admission will
be treated as provisional and such students who have not submitted the Degree Certificate will not be eligible
for scholarship. Also those students who have not submitted the Degree certificate before 1700hrs on
October 31, 2016 shall be disqualified and such students shall not be eligible to continue their studies at IIST
further. On submission of the certificate on or before October 31, 2016, the scholarship will be paid with
effect from the date of commencement of classes or from the date of admission to the programme,
whichever is later.
14. Selected students will be given scholarship as per UGC/MHRD norms.
15. Candidates who are employed in Government/Semi Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies need to produce
a No Objection Certificate(NOC) at the time of Interview
16. The M. Tech/M.S students will be required to assist the Departments in academic activities as and when
required.
17. All the students have to bring the challan copy for the respective courses at the time of the interview as proof.
18. Students who are selected for the admission have to join the course immediately. Classes for these students
will tentatively commence on July 25, 2016.
