We have locations everyw here

except Antarctica.
We also have very flat plains.

General Characteristics

The Grassland biome is on every continent

except Antarctica, making it very accessible
to everyone. It has a scattering of trees and is
mostly grass. We have warm summers and
cool winters. The most extreme temperatures
are around -20C to 30C (-4F to 86F). We
receive 20-35 inches of rain a year.

Organisms

In the Grassland biome we have many

different organisms. We have mainly three
types of plants: grasses, trees and shrubs.
We also have elephants, antelopes, zebras,
rhinoceros, cheetahs, bison, birds, snakes,
lions, and more. Cheetahs can run fast to
catch their prey. Antelopes can run long
distances to evade the cheetahs. The grasses
use long root systems to get water. The trees
also compete with the grasses for water. The
cheetahs prey on the antelope.

Natural HazardstotheGrasslands
The process of global warming could dry out
the grasslands and turn them into deserts.
Flames could also burn the savanna and
destroy the wildlife. This ecosystem is very
fragile.

HumanHazardstotheGrasslands
Grasslands are being turned into farmland,
because of the rich soil, and the single crops
can dry up the soil. Pests can infect single
crop farms easily, causing farmers to pollute
the environment with toxic pesticides.

CatastrophicEvents
The dust bowl was one catastrophic event.
After seven years of drought, the dirt on the
plains were so loose, dust storms started to
cover the plains, causing respiratory damage
and destruction of land.
