Get Ready: Introduce the module and the key words. Encourage Ss to say as much as they can about
each photo.

Exercise 1: Introduce the background about the length of British school summer holidays (six weeks)
and holidays for working people. Ss use the Key Words and describe the photos.

Exercise 2: Give Ss time to look at the planned activities and match them with the people. After
checking answers, play the recording for Ss to listen and read the texts. Ask Ss to listen carefully to
pronunciation and stress patterns. Ss work in groups of three, taking turns to read aloud the texts for
Alan, Sarah and Tim.

Exercise 3: Ss look at the table and complete it. Elicit answers. Ss look back at the texts in Exercise 2
and find and read aloud more sentences with going to.

Exercise 4: Ss read the plans again and then listen to the recording to find five differences. Play the
recording twice if necessary. Elicit the differences.

Exercise 5: Ss work in pairs, look at the cues and write true sentences. Check the sentences by asking Ss
to write them on the board.
