Actual focal spot the physical area of the anode focal track impacted by electrons
Rotating anode anode that turns during the exposure, providing larger target area and heat dissipation
Cathode negative side of the x-ray tube
Envelope glass or metal housing for cathode and anode assemblies and maintains vacuum
Filament small coil of thoriated tungsten wire that causes thermionic emission of electrons
Focusing cup houses the filament and directs thermionic cloud of electrons towards anode
Protective housing houses the x-ray tube, controls leakage/scatter radiation, isolates the high voltages,
and dissipates heat from the tube
Rotor inside the envelope and connected to rotating anode; rotated via electromagnetic induction
from the stator
Stator outside the envelope; rotates the rotor via electromagnetic induction when current is applied
Target portion of the anode where x-ray photons are created
Window point of the envelope where x-ray photons exit
