Introduction

The modern buyer is more knowledgeable and

well-researched than ever before. The buyer now
completes as much as 57% of the purchase decision
before even engaging with the sales manager.
As a result, the sales rep has had to shift the
emphasis on to customer wants and needs rather
than stressing product benefits and features, the
so called solution selling. For many years sales
has focused on earning trust, be highly involved,
be educated on all levels and present buyers with
value-adding content to help identify buyers need.
Opticons internal and external communication has
to support that process. Currently we communicate
in a very product detailed way and use platforms
that do not meet modern requirements. Time
to change by starting redesigning our presence
and implementing a new website to make us
futureproof.

Mission Statement
Definition: a mission statement is a short
statement produced by an organization that
sums up its reason for being and its goals and
principles. A mission statement tells the reader
what they should expect when dealing with this
organization, and helps guide decisions made by
those within the organization.

Identifying our customers needs since 1976.

From the start, over 40 years ago, Opticon has been one of the first companies in the world
to specialize in the manufacturing of barcode scanners. At the time barcode scanning was a
revolutionary new technology to identify information at any location. Inventory management,
asset management, order picking; all these disciplines made huge progress on efficiency thanks to
Opticons barcode scanners.
From this pioneering stage we have evolved into an international supplier of a wide range of 1D
and 2D scanning solutions, including point-of-sale scanners, rugged mobile devices and pocketsized Bluetooth scanners. These innovative answers to practical demand on the workplace has
seen our presence expand to over 65 countries.

Mission Statement

As a result, thousands of companies have identified Opticon as a trustworthy partner. We produce

reliable identification devices, but always with the understanding that they are merely a means to
an end.
Our real product is the ability to see and hear our customers needs and to provide them with the
best suitable solution for real life practice.
This, combined with a flexible and transparent operation, defines us as a company. This is our
unique selling point. From those early days when we made a huge impact with our automatic
identification equipment, up until today we provide new solutions for Electronic Shelf Labels and
Digital Signage.
It proves that professionalism and dedication are still valued in a highly competitive market.
Lets always remind ourselves, as well as our customers, that we make the difference!

Tagline

Definition: taglines fulfill a very important

purpose: they let you quickly and efficiently
sum up what your company is all about.
We have a new logo for more than a year
now, an established name since 1976, but does
our name or logo tell you anything about the
brands personality? Taglines take out the
guesswork and make a companys message
crystal clear in explicit terms.
A tagline helps to set you apart from other
companies that provide similar products.
Taglines also have the potential to build
value over time. When you use a tagline for
long enough, it can become one of the most
memorable parts of your identity. Audiences
may even become more likely to remember
your tagline than your company name.

Tagline

These three verbs describe our business. From

scanner devices (scan) to electronic shelf labels
(communicate), all our solutions provide the
link (connect) between technology and the
continuing demand for information.
But beside the complete description of
our product range, these three words also
represent our mentality. Characteristic for
Opticon is the ability to see and hear (scan) our
customers needs, and to link (connect) them to
the best suitable solution in a transparent and
flexible manner (communicate).

Adding the word we makes it personal

and exclusive for Opticon.

We currently use a narrow kind of font and will shift

Photography
We have a poor database of images that suit the current
market perspective. Therefore various photoshoots are
planned to build up an image library to use in various
communication tools. We will have 4 categories as
described below.

Website

We are currently developing an entirely new global

(except Japan) website.
For this process a lot of elements come together. Think
of the used platform, images, mapping, naming, content,
etc. To redesign our RMA process, manual downloads,
etc, we need to review the internal processes as well.
You can imagine that a lot of colleagues/departments
are involved in this process.
This massive project is divided into two main parts:
A. Basic website with all necessary functionalities
B. Customer portal and future components
Launch
The first launch will be part A of this project. We aim to
have this live at end November 2016. Followed by the
various components of part B as soon as they are ready.
Multi language
After the launch of part B we will add other languages
to the website. This will be a selection of the frequently
used languages and current regional websites which will
shift to this global website www.opticon.com.
Never finished
Dont forget that a website is never finished. Key is to
keep it maintained obviously, but also to change and
optimize it constantly for search engine optimization.
Your valued input is always welcome!
