    Poor Condition and Services of School Library

    My name is Johnny Lee and I am from 5 Melati. In accordance to the title above, I would like to
    express my dissatisfaction with the conditions and services provided by our school library. This is a serious
    matter and should be solved as soon as possible.
    First and foremost, the school librarians are rather rude to the students. They often scold us when
    we return the books late although we pay the fine. It is a rare occasion to see them smile because most of
    the time we are greeted with their poker faces and frowns. I certainly do not think that we students deserve
    such treatment from librarians as we have done nothing wrong to them. So, I hope you will do something
    about this.
    In addition, there is insufficient place for the students to sit and read comfortably in the library. Our
    school has about 700 students and the library is only as big as 3 classrooms! Most of the time, we have to
    sit outside the library along the corridor to read books or newspaper. Therefore, it is very inconvenient for all
    the students to use the library.
    Besides, the library has old furniture. The chairs are all rusty and some are even broken. The tables
    are shaky and they might fall apart one day. The racks are very old as well and we are afraid if it would fall
    anytime too. This is an extremely severe problem as it concerns the safety of our students. Prevention is
    better than cure. Hence, I would request the school to buy new furniture to prevent any unwanted
    accidents. Apart from that, our library is also filled with old and torn books. These books are no longer
    suitable for the students as they are outdated and some are even infested by insects. We have pleaded the
    teacher in charge to buy new books but he said that the library has not enough funds to purchase new
    books.
    Other than that, we media equipments in the library are faulty. The students can no longer access
    the computers like before. The television cannot be switched on the display projector is not functioning. We
    sincerely hope that the school can repair these media equipments as it is such an eyesore and a waste to
    leave these dysfunctional equipments to collect dust in the library.
    Finally, students are unhappy with the borrowing period of books, which is too short. We can only
    borrow reference books for two days and story books for three days. It is impossible for us to finish reading
    the books in such a short period of time! Thus, we hope that the library would consider expanding the
    borrowing period. This is all I would like to complain about. I hope the school will look into this matter and
    take drastic measures as all of us are very eager to fully utilize the schools library. Thank you.
