TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Valve body ratings and seat ratings
The tables below shows maximum body working pressure of different materials and also the maximum differential pressure for
the seat, when the disc is in the closed position.
The seat ratings determine the practical pressure limitations acc. to actual service conditions.
These ratings are a conservative guide for general service. Previous experience in a process or new developments may permit
applications at ratings above those shown. Please consult Neles Controls for specific recommendations.

Torque requirement for actuator selection

The following torque charts are valid for Series 882 and 885. An actuator should be selected so that it provides the same or
greater torque output than shown in the charts below. Refer to Neles Controls actuator bulletins to select actuator. If in doubt,
select the next larger actuator.

ACTUATOR SELECTION
Manual and pneumatic actuators with ISO 5211/
DIN 3337 connections can be mounted to WaferSphere series 882 and 885 butterfly valves. Electric actuator mounting is also available. Please
contact your Neles Controls sales office for actuator selection and details. For required actuator
torque, see pages 4 and 5. Standard mounting
configurations are shown at right.

WAFER - SPHERE BUTTERFLY VALVES SERIES 882 AND 885

Fire-Tite Wafer-Sphere Series F 882 and F 885

Torque requirement for actuator selection

The Wafer-Sphere Fire-Tite construction provides lasting

bubble tight shut-off (DIN 3230, part 3, rate 1), proven by
over 40 years of installed experience.
The primary sealing element is PTFE with a back-up metal
seat ring. In case of fire, the PTFE primary seat is destroyed,
and sealing is provided by the metal secondary seat. FireTite Wafer-Sphere butterfly valves are tested and certified to
API 607 and BS 6755, part 2.
For high cycle applications, consult Neles Controls.

The following torque charts are valid for Series F 882 and F
885. An actuator should be selected so that it provides the
same or greater torque output than that shown in the charts
below. Refer to Neles Controls actuator bulletins to select
actuator. If in doubt, select the next larger actuator.

Fire-Tite version F882W, F882L

Stainless steel/PTFE seat
2000

Advantages

1500

Reliable tight shut-off before, during and after fire.

Bi-directional flow.
One piece PTFE/METAL seat ring.
No metal contact between disc and seat during normal
service.
Tightness according to DIN 3230, part 3, leakrate 1.
Easy seat replacement - if necessary.
Certification according to API 607 and BS 6755, part 2.
