Sample problem 1:

A pilot approaching a 10, 000 foot runway

finds that the angles of depression of the
ends of the runway are 12 and 15. How far
is the plane from the nearer end of the
runway? What is the altitude of the plane
with respect to the ground?

Sample problem 2:

From the top of the building 24 meters

high, the angle of elevation of a weather
balloon is 54, and from the bottom of
the building, the angle is 62. How high
above the ground is the balloon?

Sample problem 3:

Two sides of a triangular plot of

land have lengths of 425 feet and
550 feet. The measure of the angle
between those sides is 44.5. Find
the perimeter of the plot.

Sample problem 4:

A tree top of a hill casts a shadow

of 20 meters long down the hill. If
the angle of elevation of the sun is
75 and the hill is inclined 45,
find the height of the tree.

Sample problem 5:
From the two ends of a tunnel 3200 meters
long, through the base of the mountain, the
angles of elevation of the mountain peak
are 48 and 36 respectively. Find the
height of the mountain.
