Dont forget the Parent Information night
coming up Sept. 6 at 6:00. We will do our best
to answer all your questions. We also want to
thank all of our families who have signed up for
conferences. They are Tuesday, October 11 and
Thursday, October 13. If you have not signed
up, please contact your childs teacher to do so.
Literacy
Our first unit in our Reading program is a
super one as we begin our school year. It
focuses on making new friendsperfect!
Each theme lasts for three weeks. We will
work on giving details when retelling stories,
listening for beginning phonemes (sounds) in
words, and learning our high-frequency
words of the, we, and see. We already know
the words I and can. We have begun writing
sentences using these wordsjust ask us to
show you!
Math
We are excited to be implementing the first
unit of Math. Unit 1 focus is the
understanding of numbers 1-10. Children
learn number words, written numerals, and
quantities for each number, and explore
how these relate to each other. The
students are getting into the good habit of
completing their math homework and
returning the folder the next day. Please
return math homework, but the literacy
homework sent home in the Wednesday
folder does not need to come back.
Math homework will come home
depending upon the class lesson.
