1. How is the HR different in Walt Disney compared to
other firms?
HR at Disney has given more emphasis on how can a
candidate be well educated about Disneys culture and value
system before he/she is on board. To find out a proper match
a unique selection process at Disney was really different
from other farms.
HR at Disney builds and encourages the leadership to be
people oriented. Unique HR practices and process has
delighted all cast members and eventually delighting and
exceeding expectation of their customers across globe.
HR at Disney strived to set a high standard of excellence by
maintaining high-quality standards across all product
categories.
Each cast member was trained to perform for the roles they
would be playing while onstage. This shows HR at Walt
Disney ensures right person for the right role.
Created a holistic partnership between employees and
company leaders.
HR at Disney was committed to provide a rewarding,
inclusive and supportive work environment. Recognizing a
job well done was a leadership practice and was achieved
with sincerity.

2. What are some of the unique HR practices that it


adopts to recruit, train and develop its employees?

The casting center building was designed to give hints to the


interviewee about the organization culture, belief and
values. The building hallway walls, ceilings and floors
featured Disney characters and film scenes to give a feel of
everything Disney.
Give pre-hand experience to the applicant regarding
Disneys heritage, regulation and terms of employment.
Created a reward program for cast members doing a great
job and success was celebrated.
A specially designed place to train and develop new cast
members before they are deployed in actual job called
Disney University.
Management supported customized training program,
education reimbursement, Professional/career development
for employees.

3. How is the leadership Vision, Mission and Strategy
communicated to all its employees?
Mission Statement: The mission of The Walt Disney
Company is to be one of the world's leading producers
and providers of entertainment and information. Using
our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content,
services and consumer products, we seek to develop
the most creative, innovative and profitable
entertainment experiences and related products in the
world."
Vision statement: Creating happiness for the people
who visit the park by exceeding their expectation. The
mission and vision statements for Disney work together.
The vision provides the company with a plan for the
future while the mission statement outlines the
companys current business and purpose.
Strategy: The Disney brothers strategy was to exceed
customer expectations through strict attention to detail
and policies and procedures designed to deliver quality.
They believed that the cast members must be
enamored with being part of Disney and embrace the
farms purpose to bring entertainment to young and
old- to make people happy.
There were different ways Disney communicated the
leaders Mission, Vision and strategy, following are
more significant ways Disney was successful.

4. What other unique features strikes you when you


compare Walt Disney with any other company?
Disney people philosophy - Good human relationships is
the corner stone.
WDC considered its cast members as its first
customers. They believed this impacted in a big way to
their success.
Disney created its own language.
The idea that a role should play to cast members
strength and they had a place of every kind.
Designed a separate casting center that gives a hint
that Disney was about magic and make believe.
Created a University were new cast members can
rehearse for performance and practice

AT DISNEY
Disney expanded under Michael Eisner and Frank Wells into a
Media empire by 2012. Disneys world wide parks and
resorts were part of an integrated network, joined by studio
entertainment companies, media networks, Disney
consumable products and Disney Interactive.
They succeeded in maintaining a powerful connection
between inspired leaders, motivated employees and
satisfied customers who together drove financial results and
brand loyalty.
Leadership philosophy evolved into a more holistic
partnership in between employees and company leaders
that, in turn, benefited customers, whether through sports or
cinema.
Disney started supporting customized training program,
education reimbursement or professional/career
development for cast members.
