INTRODUCTION
For the assignment worth (50%), you will be expected to select a software system that
you are interested, and critically evaluate the complete process of development using
the topics that cover in Software Quality Engineering module.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Explain the relevant quality assurance processes by explaining the meaning of quality
when applied to software.
Apply and critically evaluate estimating techniques for time, effort and cost.
Create a quality plan and a risk plan for use in project management
SCENARIO
Android Malaysia has recently announced an open contest for software developers to
create a Social Event Media Application for Mobile Devices dubbed SEMA. The
application is intended to increase social interaction and activities among mobile users
in objective to flourish human value.
The application (SEMA) should be used to initiate, communicate and manage social
activities among its users such as sports events, parties, trips, camps, seminars, flea
markets, etc. Dedicated application should be created for specific events. For example, a
Seminar SEMA would include a template with components such as location, speakers,
hand-outs, food, participants, transport, etc. People interested in seminars would
download the Seminar SEMA from Androids SEMA portal and simply fill-up the
necessary sections of their contributions depending on their interest, either in organising
(contribution such as catering, transportation, etc) or participating in the seminar.
Similarly, a Flea-Market SEMA would include a different template for that event.

The application could be linked to the cloud to link all its participants for discussion and
information updates. Your Software House is interested in taking-up the project and you
are assigned to create a SQAP (Software Quality Assurance Plan) for it. You may choose
any ONE application of your choice, from above example or your own SEMA.
DELIVERABLES
The assignment final documentation should be structured in the following
format:
1) Introduction A brief introduction about the product, its main functions, objectives
and scope.
2) IS Methodology Select an IS Development Methodology which you deem suitable
for this project. Discuss in detail, the features of the methodology which could be
applied to achieve high quality software.
3) Software Quality Matrices
a) Critically evaluate the software quality attributes that are mandatory for the
product. Present the attributes in a way that it shows its propriety or preference.
b) Plan and describe at least TWO (2) sets of software quality matrices for the
project. Clearly demonstrate how the matrices would be measured and evaluated.
4) Software Quality Assurance Plan (SQAP) Using a standard template, prepare a
complete SQAP for the development of the above system. Among other components,
include in your plan the following discussions:
a) Briefly explain the sub activities under the main phases
b) Discuss one of the International Quality Standard that you need to adhere for this
project. Explain the key areas that you need to satisfy.
c) Create a Risk Management Plan for the project.
5) Conclusion and recommendation this can be purely summary of the research or
it can include some new knowledge identification in conclusion to support the
research.
6) A presentation of all the chapters above.
