EDUCATION FOR

TEACHERS
Early childhood care and education (ECCE) in Malaysia
is divided into two age groups, which is 0-4 years and
4-6 years old. The Malaysian government places a strong
emphasis on quality ECCE and has formulated the National
Policy for Early Childhood Education. Under this policy,
programmes have been introduced to meet the diverse
needs of the crucial early years of birth to six years old.
These programmes provide a solid foundation for healthy
and holistic growth, offering young children experiences
that develop mastery of basic skills and positive attitudes,
not just for primary school but for life. The governments
involvement in ECCE is evident from its numerous initiatives
to make early childhood programmes more accessible.
SEGi is the trusted provider of ECCE programmes,
supplying the nation with thousands of highly qualified
ECCE practitioners since 1999. In addition, the government
of Malaysia has appointed SEGi as the Champion of Entry
Point Project (EPP) 2, Education National Key Economic
Areas (NKEA) to promote and train caliber practitioners.

REASONS TO STUDY AT
SEGi UNIVERSITY
& COLLEGES
Centre of Excellence
We at SEGi University & Colleges are always on our toes to reinvent strategies, finding
innovative ways to build improvements in all capacities, ranging from the programmes we offer
right down to the nitty-gritty details of the facilities we provide; all this for one main reason to
deliver a superior tertiary education to our students.
Thus far, our efforts are apparent with the establishment of Centre of Excellence (CoE) for SEGi
College Subang Jaya, concentrating on the ECCE programmes. The CoE will pave the way for
top of the mark graduates while also leading the development and improvement of programmes
for the entire Group. With thousands of graduates in the ECCE field since the establishment
in 1999, SEGi College Subang Jaya has earned a reputation as a trusted provider of ECCE
training.
Reputable Academicians
Apart from our experienced early childhood specialists, we are also proud to secure
academicians with impressive and diverse backgrounds such as Nursing, Pharmacy, TESL,
Communications, Linguistics, Business and Psychology. This diversity is used to our advantage
as our strength as it allows us to address the multi-dimensional and multi-disciplined nature of
the ECCE industry.
Montessori Centre International is a vibrant learning community of students who come to learn about the
Montessori approach and what it offers young children. It embraces the legacy of Dr Maria Montessori whilst
ensuring that students learning combines the universal needs of children with current research.
In establishing Montessori Centre International (MCI) in 1998 we have drawn on the expertise of the
Montessori St Nicholas Training Centre (MSN) founded in 1946 under the guidance of Dr Montessori
and of the London Montessori Centre (LMC), which has operated from our current central London premises
since 1970.
