Platform
The platform that works best for our class is Google Classroom. Since all
students have a Gmail account for email, this platform will allow fluidity through Google
content and Google Applications. Google Classroom allows teachers to create classes,
distribute assignments, send feedback, and see everything in one place. Students are
allowed to keep all assignments in one place. It also allows them to communicate with
their teacher and with their classmates. Students will have full access to Google apps
like Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, and others.
Accommodations
All classroom computers have internet access allowing students to access their
Google Classroom account. Each classroom currently has six student computers for
use. Worth County Elementary also has two student labs that contain 30 computers
each. The teacher will be able to sign-up for access to one computer at the beginning
of each week. The second computer lab will be used for computer literacy instruction
during students designated Specials time. Students will also have access to iPads
and Chromebooks that are available from the media center. Each fourth grade
classroom is assigned nine Chromebooks that students have access to throughout the
day. Students that do have personal devices will have plenty of access to schoolowned technology.
Use of Devices
BYOD: the use of personal devices will be restricted to the owner of the device
ONLY. All other students will use school-owned devices.
Students will be allowed to work with partners when using devices. No more than
two students at a time are allowed to be on a device. When working in groups (4
members), two devices may be used per group. This applies to school-owned
devices only. All students using personal devices will be allowed to do so.
When working with partners/groups, students will share their work (Docs,
Slides, etc.) with their partner and group members through their Google Drive
Account. Work will also be shared with the teacher via Google Drive.
