Class summary
Have you ever wanted to utilize the 3D power of Inventor
software with the intelligence of AutoCAD Electrical
software for substation protection and control panel
layouts? Tracing connections from the panel in the
control house to the cable tray and then out to the
equipment in the yard can be a very tedious process
when you dont have really good visualization tools. With
AutoCAD Electrical software and Inventor software
integration, users now have the ability to produce the
panel layout in the substation control house in 3D.

Why are we here?

Key learning objectives

At the end of this class, you will be able to:
Learn how to use the AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor integration tools
See a workflow for producing a 3D panel layout with intelligent AutoCAD
Electrical design-associated objects

SDS Industry Consortium

What is the SDS Consortium?

The SDS (Substation Design Solution) Industry Consortium is made up of

member utilities who have adopted or are investigating for adoption the SDS
suite of software products, Autodesk and AutomationForce (the SDS
software developers).

SDS Industry Consortium Purpose

What is the Purpose?

Collaborate as an industry to establish common

workflows, common toolkit functionality, shared
libraries, common standards, and technology needs.

Form one large utility voice to help drive Autodesk

and AutomationForce to software development
according to an industry standard.

Develop a shared SDS library of substation content

from internal resources, external partners, and/or
equipment manufacturers.

SDS Industry Consortium Members

Do you have to install both versions of Inventor?

No, You can install one Inventor (AC recommends the
FDS version)
When you install PDS for AutoCAD Electrical you can
also install the Inventor Electrical Catalog Browser!

Do you have to buy both?

At this time. Unfortunately yes
