VOTE FOR CHANGE - VOTE PETER OSULLIVAN AND PLEASE ASK OTHERS TO DO SO WE KNOW PETER CAN, AND WILL, REPRESENT RESIDENTS OF THE NEW UPPER MEON VALLEY WARD A sense of humour, even when you're discussing serious things, helps to mobilise friends around you Nelson Mandela PETER OSULLIVAN has lived, with his wife Pat, in the Meon valley for over 30 years. They have two children, Abi and Ben, who went to local schools before going to university. With a Masters in Social Science from Cambridge University Peter initially pursued a career in youth and community work leading to a director-level role in Social Services in the North East. Peter was tempted to Hampshire to get a job with IBM, initially training IBMers to use a new computerised office system. He then built a second career (in the UK and internationally), with IBM, KPMG and with his own company - helping organisations to realise the opportunities offered by the rapid developments in technology. As IBMs executive responsible for the education sector in UK, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, he became a leader in how technology, and other organisational changes, can improve the quality and accessibility of education and learning for all. Peter has also undertaken development work (mostly voluntary) in schools in the UK (where he is a founding trustee of one of the first chains of academies), and in Africa and India. Peter is an ambassador for heritage and culture and is known in the Meon Valley for his voluntary work in engaging the communities of the Valley in discovering, and bringing to life, its history and heritage. He has attracted grant funding, expert support and resources; he has mobilised hundreds of volunteers; worked with our schools; created opportunities for, and engaged in campaigns in support of, children and older people; and in improvement in transport service, broadband and in support of small businesses and landowners. Peter is the inspiration behind The Meon Valley, A Journey of Discovery; a DVD which has sold over a 1000 copies in a year. People of all ages have contributed to, enjoyed and learned from these activities. WHY I AM STANDING FOR ELECTION I believe the Meon Valley communities deserve, and should get, more attention and resources from local and national government and its agencies.
