    1. Standards International Association of Assistance Dog Partners, an
    assistance dog should be given a minimum of one hundred twenty hours of schooling over a
    period of Six Months or more. At least thirty hours should be devoted to outings that will prepare
    the dog to work obediently and unobtrusively in public places.
    2. master basic obedience skills sit, stay, come, down, heel + proper social
    behavior such as not begging for food nit acting aggressively, barking,
    growling, snapping or biting, not urinating in public permission,to walk calmly on
    a leash.
    B. public access test in order to be legitimized.
    1. demonstration of the animals owners ability public space with control of the
    dog, pick the leash back up, calmly deal with any challenges
    2. The dog must be able to demonstrate a certain skill set National Service Animal
    Registry.approach a building without fear of cars or traffic and stopping when the owner
    stops, doorway and wait, walk calmly througha building, remainclose, and heel to obstacles,
    outside noises,under the table at restaurant.
    3. Certification is not required in the USA, but it is recommended. make life
    easier

    III. Americans with Disabilities act of 1990
    A. public facilities with their owners even if no animals policy.
    1. Doctors offices, restaurants, hotels, taxi cabs, stores, gyms etc.

    C. transportation, travel in the cabin on planes.

    D. only includes dogs and sometimes miniature horses


    Transition: While pets can provide companionship and fulfillment for people, service
    animals are anything but pets and can be so much more than that for people who have
    disabilities.
    Summary Statement: These animals can carry out specific tasks, are highly trained, and are
    legally protected.
    Concluding Remarks: Whether you have a dog, or just stop people on the street to pet theirs,
    know that they are highly capable animals who provide a lot of assistance to so many people.
