I am a freelance kitchen, bathroom
and furniture designer with
17 years of industry experience.
V23 was inspired by the periodic table of elements. It is the chemical symbol for Vanadium,
a strong, corrosion-resistant metal that is also flexible, adaptable and super-conductive.
It is used in a wide range of applications, often where strength and colour are required.

Situate is a mobile phone app platform that is used by museum and visitor
attractions to digitally deliver content to visitors via mobile phones or other
mobile devices. It provides an opportunity to convey more specific and more
targetted information than can be contained in a graphic panel.
This type of engagement can promote audience diversity by focusing content toward
specific visitor types. For example, content can be geared to appeal to those of a
specific age, those who speak different languages, people with specific interests or
those with a different range of ability/disability.
How it works
The Situate app works by
offering information clusters,
grouped under headings and
headlines that are geared to
appeal to a specific visitor
type. It enables visitors to pick
and choose the experiences
that most appeal to them.
In this application the Situate
app is ideal for use as a selfled tour guide. Visitors can
choose a specific trail and be
led around the route, guided
and interpreted via their
mobile phone or tablet.
The trails will feature text,
audio or video content, along
with images, overlaid maps or infographics to guide and interpret the features
they will encounter along the trail. Using GPS waypoints to pinpoint and deliver
content, the app is accurate to a predetermined range that can be as small as just
five metres in diameter.
Content
After identifying and interpreting a selection of features around the site, these
individual content pages can be clustered to create a series of trails, each trail
consisting of 5 10 points that have something in common. The selection will help
to engage visitors with specific interests or profiles, whilst also promoting repeated
visits to enjoy different experiences of the same area.

Happy Pet is one of the leading pet supply companies in the UK. With an
enormous range of products, giving customers the right information is vitally
important. 52 Oaks was commissioned to produce informative and engaging copy
for the Komodo catalogue Happy Pets reptile brand. Using their strict brand
guidelines to project the right tone of voice, we produced a catalogue that was
interesting and informative so much so that we were also commissioned to write
for the companys website and other marketing documents.
