Peter Lunt
I am a product design graduate (Leeds Beckett University 2:1 BA
Hons) with photography experience. My main focus is to create
products that serve a purpose. I strongly believe that design is a
tool to create products that aid everyday life. I hold the belief that
good design should always have some underlying reasoning, be
it a clients wants/needs or a product that has been set to a specific
target market. I take pride in the aesthetics of my products, as visuals
entice a consumer to purchase. My special interest is in functional
furniture design. These principles are demonstrated throughout the
products in my portfolio.

Bike Box
2015

With an increase in population in major cities

in the UK, more and more people are living in
small apartments. I have found though research
that one of the main issues of living in smaller
apartments is storage space, more specifically
space for storing a bike. Bike Box is a bespoke
bike display and storage unit, designed to utilise
the space taken up by the bike; ensure that
the bike does not cause unwanted mess to the
home; and look aesthetically pleasing to fit into a
modern London apartment.
The unit uses as little space as possible within
an apartment. It has been designed using the
smallest possible dimensions, while keeping the
product inclusive for various shapes and styles of
bike. It also takes advantage of negative space
around the bike for storage, which would not
usually be used, i.e. above the wheels and either
side of the bike. The unit has been designed to
fit all the necessary items the user may want
to store or display on, or within the unit. As
an added feature the unit has a pin board so
that the user can display any reminders and
notes they may need on entering or leaving the
apartment.

Guerrilla Home Project

2014

ATTOLLO is a bespoke, covert-sleeping unit

designed to counter the overnight dwelling
regulations of a Guerrilla Home. The guidelines
of a Guerrilla Home state that the building should
not permit the user to stay for an extended
period of time. My product houses two single
beds concealed into the roof in the day and
lowers when required in the night. The unit uses
a combination of an automated screw jack and
rack and pinion mechanisms to move the beds in
a vertical linear motion.
ATTOLLO is designed to be spatially aware
within the home, using multi-functionality to
optimize the area being consumed by the
beds. The product consists of three different
functions, these being; two comfortable hidden
beds, various storage possibilities, for all forms
of appliance or possession and the option to
partially lower one of the beds to be used as
an expansive desk for the use of studying. The
middle bedside table is alternately designed to
comfortably seat the user while the desk is in
operation. The unit is brightly lit using downward
tilting LED task lights. These provide the user
with control over the direction of lights, while
different areas beneath the covering are in use.
Although it is difficult to avoid space consumption
when dealing with standard sizes of beds,
ATTOLLO uses the area required to maximize
its potential through multi-functional applications.

Deviare Project
2014

Clutter and general organisation of belongings in

student bedrooms is a problem. For this reason
I designed a product that can help students
become more organised when studying in their
rooms. The product should help the student
become more productive and keep them thinking
creatively.
Deviare is a student desk based product that has
various contributing factors that will improve the
way the user works. The product will keep the
student well organised and productive through
many different storage sections, it will also help
creative thought by taking the student away from
the task at hand to then return with better and
more enhanced ideas.
Through completing this project I acquired the
ability to use the program Solid Works to produce
3D digital designs, gain a better understanding
of marketing my product through branding and
costing of materials.

Ergonomic Pan Scraper

2014

The idea behind the brief was due to urban

homes become more compact and integrated
I had to design a hand-held cleaning product
to efficiently undertake laborious daily cleaning
tasks. The main focus of the project is on the
acquisition and demonstration of both physical
and digital modelling skills in the production and
communication of a product designed using the
axiom form follows function.
In response to the brief I produced an ergonomic
pan scraper. The scraper was meant to make
the task of cleaning burn food off pans much
easier. I kept the size small and comfortable for
manoeuvrability around the pan. I also designed
the blade to be used as a scoop to help remove
waste to the bin.
Through producing this product I acquired the
ability to start with a basic foam model, progress
across a range of modelling materials to then be
able, using the models to create an accurate 3Ds
Max model.

Royal Armouries Project

2013

For this project I was given the Leeds Royal

Armouries Museum as an external client and
asked to enhance visitor experience. The World
War1 section of the museum doesnt make the
visitor feel very reflective about the War and time
era. I designed a product which will enhance
visitor experience, the product is thought
provoking and should get people more involved
with exhibition in an audio and visual manner.
The product is an audio and visual device placed
around different displays. It uses WW1 sounds to
create a battlefield atmosphere to enhance the
visitor involvement in the exhibition.
Through creating the device I gained a new
presentation skill, using stop motion imagery and
video footage to display user interaction with the
product. The video shows the way the user will
hold the receivers and involves the sounds which
would be used, were the product manufactured.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park Project

Dog Parking Station 2013

This was a self lead project at Yorkshire

Sculpture Park. I found that many visitors walked
dogs around the park. For this reason I set out to
design a product that will enable dog walkers to
leave their dogs out while they enter the different
exhibitions within the park.
The dog parking product is a weather proof,
simple design that fits nicely along side the
sculptures at the park. The product is positioned
outside various exhibitions and consists of three
concrete seats linked with tubular stainless steel,
where dogs can be tied. The product should
keep the dogs content with the incorporation of
a water reservoir in the side of the seats so that
they stay hydrated on hot days.
Throughout the design process of this project
I gathered a greater understanding of the
importance of primary research, asking people
at the park the issues they have while visiting,
to specify the needs of my target market. I also
amplified my Photoshop skills, using silhouettes
to display user interaction.

A Level Recycle Bin Project

2012

I designed and produced a

recycling refuse unit to be
used within a primary school
environment. The purpose of the
unit was to encourage the children
to recycle using playful character
heads for different recyclable
items. Through using bright and
vibrant colours the receptacle
encourages the students to
approach the bin and learn how to
separate their waste.
The spherical character heads
lend themselves to rotational
moulding.
The main body of the product
is suited to be produced from
Duraplas recycled plastic timber
which can be made in a range of
desired colours.
These materials and processes
give the unit indoor and outdoor
capabilities.
The unit is mainly situated within a
primary school, yet can be used in
more public outdoor surroundings.

EDUCATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS

Product Design Graduate from Leeds Beckett

University (BA Hons 2:1). I have worked on various
self- directed and client-based projects, creating
physical prototypes at various stages of the design
process, working with anything from cardboard and
foam to metals, wood and plastics. Through my
studies I have also been able to further develop my
sketching, 3D CAD and presentation skills. I am
passionate about product design, eager to learn and
wish to pursue a career in this field.

WORK EXPERIENCE
-2012 2015: Bar tender and waiter at Springfield

involved close team work in busy catering
environments
-2010 2012: Team Leader, counter assistant,
kitchen worker and waiter at Seniors fish restaurant,
involved working quickly and efficiently with orders,
food preparation and serving customers. As team
leader I was also responsible for ensuring shifts ran
smoothly to strict deadlines, staff training and for
resolving customer complaints and problems

Team work: A lot of the work on my course has

involved team work, dividing workload in order
to achieve goals. I have also worked in team
environments in my catering jobs and played team
sports both for school and Blackpool Junior RUFC.

Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, SolidWorks,
3DsMax, Sketchup, 3D printing, Keyshot, Technical
and free hand drawing.

Personal Skills: I have excellent organizational,

analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written
communication skills. I am also very outgoing,
creative and passionate about all aspects of design.
Time Management: Balancing part-time work with
studying has taught me how to manage my time
effectively, still having spare time for my hobbies.
I have also always managed to keep to hand-in
deadlines for my projects and assignments.
