A vessel of constant diameter with the entire mass distributed uniformly over the height is considered for frequency
calculations. Total Earthquake shear is applied at 2/3 height to calculate base moment.
The calculation below compares the seismic shear and moment calculated by the equipment supplier to the shear and moment
calculated here and selects the larger of the two. It is possible that the Bechtel calculated load in one case (i.e. shear or
moment) may be chosen while the supplier load is selected for the other case.

ASCE 7-05, Section 15.7.2 requires the vertical component ( +/- 0.2*SDS *IE *D ) of the earthquake load be included when
designing using Strength Design. Since our foundation design is performed using Strength Design, this load is required.

1.0 Vessel (O.D) dimension considered as 10'-11" in the estimation, while in present the vessel dimension is 11'-11".
2.0 In the estimation, wind load importance factor was considered as 1.0 instead of 1.15.
